Title: Question bout ears
Post by: ChaseG on August 02, 2011, 01:14:52 pm
Some of y'all may have seen my pit pup I posted a few days ago catching his first pig. And he's been having to wear that cone. And since a week of wearing it his ears are standing straight up. It's annoying cause they weren't that way before. And I'm not a fan of how they look like that when their bigger. I was debating on gettin his ears clipped but do y'all think that that affect them any out in the woods? I think there's been a thread about this before but I couldn't find it. And he'll be 13 weeks when or if I get them done next week. I've always heard to get it done by 12 weeks but would that week matter?

We had one for a short time with clipped ears, they never seemed to bother him...even when he was in the water.

We currently have a pet Am Staff that we aquired and her ears are clipped, she isnt a fan of getting water in them but they do not seem to bother her.

Have you considered taping them?  I had considered it on a pup I was going to keep because I didnt want the headache of the cone but hated the direction hos ears were headed.

You can google it as there are a few ways to "set" them and I dont know why it wouldnt work as long as you do it while he is young.

I.m with Blake, when he fills out they prolly won't look so big and it'll give him his own look.

They give him some personality alright but ill have to change his name to rabbit. And I thought about tryin to tape them down but wasn't sure if that would help or not. I always forget to google stuff I'll try that and see what I can find. I just don't want rabbit ears forever ;D

I googled it and there is a lot of different info about glueing them a certain way and what to use. It says the best time to do it is around three months old. So I reckon I will give that a try. Oughta be cheaper than gettin them clipped and I'd rather him keep his ears

I read on a bulldog website about supergluing a quarter to the tip of the ears so they will stay down.  It will eventually keep the ear down except when the dog raises them.

I might try the superglue and quarter trick first. That sounds a lot easier than the other stuff I found.  I just don't really have the money to clip them right now so ima try laying them down for now
