Hit the woods this morning, it was a cool 59 deg. But didn't take long to warm up when that Sun popped out, plus crawling and climbing up and down these mtns, in this THICK mtn laurel.
Unloaded dogs, and started walking. Didn't take long and found a track. Dogs left out runnin sounding good, pups and all. One of my plott pups was a first time in the woods and made half the race. Not even a yr old. My young male plott  sure made me proud this Morning. Struck with the old dog, made the whole race, and was hammering when I finally got to them 2+ mi. And several ridges later.
Little bluetick gyp was at the tree but aint quite figured out whats going on yet.
The blk n tan is everything the man said he was, just took a couple weeks to get him used to me and my dogs, and to get back in shape after setting on chain.
I am one wore out old fat bear Hunter, lol  this bear hunting aint for the faint of heart, there aint no in between, you'll either love it, or you'll hate it.
I was so pumped when i finally got to them, but was mad as heck, by the time I got out, leading two dogs, two plus mi. Back out, LOL thru all that mess, some of the thickest ive seen.
hope ya'll enjoy.

Awesome pics brother... you guys ever climb the tree and poke 'em out with a stick??... I've had the local bear hunters tell me they do this so they can run him again... and comin' from the source I tend to believe it  ... might actually like to try it myself one of these days!!! ;D

No need to poke them out, all you have to do is tie the dogs back off the tree, and they will shoot right down. Thats what we do, and then turn them back loose. Real good way to train pups.
Noah, your more than welcome to come up anytime.

Reuben, I dont have a good pack yet, but im working on it. This new dog is gonna give me that little edge I have been lacking.  "Tree"

Well....neither computer that I own will play the video  >:( It says that i don't have the right 'codec' installed. Oh well,....figures that I wouldn't. I'm glad that the dog is gonna do what he's supposed to Tom. It's been awhile since I've heard a good bunch of hounds treeing on a big ole' bear. I may have to come up and check this new dog out here before long. Y'all going back anymore this week? If so, I hope you tree another one, that's really good for your young dogs. If I get to come up and go with you, you can video me climbing up and poking the bear out so Noah can see how it's done.... ;D

Thanks chain, he sure does, sounds like that on track too. You cur fellers would hate him, he will pull dogs to him from 1/2 a mile away. LOL but thats what you want bear hunting, when your tryin to pack more dogs in.

Shankem, its bout as tough as it gets, better pack dinner when you leave the truck, and im being serious.

Neal, dont you have a smart phone? Cant you watch video on your phone?
You know your welcome here anytime friend.
It would be an honor to video you poking one out. LOL.

Thanks Neal, I really like this line of plotts. I cant wait til his 1/2 older sister gets healed back up, probly another week at least.
these dogs just have the right genetics, seems like all you have to do is turn them loose and they know what to do. Just have to fine tune them.
I wasn't too sure about the new dog first few times I took him out, but he is coming along just fine, and is a real tree dog which was what I was looking for. Ive got the bear fever again. LOL.
Llooks like im going back to hounds, so there will be some curs for sale. ;D
