Title: Flashlight Post by: Chester12 on December 20, 2007, 04:42:54 pm I am not sure if this is the exactly right place for this or not, but I was wondering what kind of flashlights ya'll used? I have miss placed both of my 2 and 4 cell mag lights, and I need to replace them sometime. I was just wondering if they are the way to go or if I should spend the money on something like the Surefire G2 LED. I usually have things several years before I loose them, I think that had both of the other ones for at least 5 years before they walked away, so spending the extra is not a huge issue, if the lights are better, or if I should just keep getting Mag lights.
Thank you, Chester Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: Mike on December 20, 2007, 05:15:15 pm I always loose flashlights, but you can get the "upgrade" led bulbs to go in your mag lites.
I put a 1 watt led in a mini mag and it worked great... but those I hear those Surefires are awesome. Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: pig snatcher on December 21, 2007, 08:14:37 am As far as use hog hunting goes, I have a 6v bright eyes coon lite. They have adjustable brightness. Brighter than a mag lite turned up and will last all night long as you keep it on the low side while walking. The 6v runs about a hundred bucks but you can get um rite on up there in price and volts to where it will burn your buddys retenas out when you turn to talk to him. ;D
Best part is it is always pointed where you are looking, keeps your hands free, and you cant loose em cause they are attached to ya. Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: mley1 on December 21, 2007, 12:53:39 pm Save your money and leave the Sure fire lights alone. I've used them and they are good and bright, but eat batteries like they are going out of style. And, the batteries ain't cheap. I've gone to using maglites new LED flashlights. I have a 3watt mini mag that is real bright, and the batteries last a long time. Plus, the AA's are pretty cheap to buy. I also use a 2D cell 3Watt LED by Brinkman(almost the same as Mag Lite, only cheaper). It's real bright and the batteries seem to last forever. And, that's comforting when you're in the middle of nowhere and your partners flashlight plays out. He suddenly becomes your best friend. I also have a Streamlight Stinger XT/HP that I use mostly for my job. It is real bright but the battery only lasts about 1 hour. It's rechargeable and the only reason I keep it.
As far as I'm concerned the new 3watt LED's that Maglite and Brinkman are putting out are far and away better, and more economical than any of the Surefire lights. Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: Clay on December 21, 2007, 05:56:15 pm The one i like most is the energizer led spot light. Its water proof and last a long time. Down side is its big if you dont hunt of 4 wheelers. wont slip down in your pocket. I have had all kind of lights and the surefires are nice for when you get to a hog but they only last about a hour i think. The light i had was a stream light and it lasted only 90 minuitres continues. If you hunt all night it will die quick. But i look to look for tracks and other things so i have mine on quite often. I would recomend anything with leds cant beat them.
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: NThoghunter on December 21, 2007, 06:04:56 pm Princeton Tec headlights work great for me and the other NT hoghunters I have shown them to. They are waterproof, bright, lightweight, and battery life is good.(takes 3 AAA's) Been using them for awhile now.

I have the E2L and it's an LED model and lasts roughly 30-40hrs and 2 CR lithium batteries and produces a beam of 35lumens. Flashlight runs about $128 Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: Black Gold on February 09, 2009, 06:35:11 am I'm a big fan of Surefire, but stick with their newer LED lights. Like Marty said, the regular bulbs eat batteries like crazy....The LED models have excellent brightness and last around 12 hours of continuous shine.
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: mley1 on February 10, 2009, 04:54:00 pm I like Sure Fires led models too. The only thing I didn't like was the cost of the light, plus the cost of their batteries. But, they are great lights and last a lot longer than their regular lights.
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: yellowdog on February 24, 2009, 09:20:52 pm Order your surefire batteries from surefire.com If you have a friend or two you can get a better deal the more ya'll buy at one time. I can't find a better price on these batteries. If anyone can I'd like to know.
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: Cull Buck on March 03, 2009, 10:19:23 am I like surefire's too. My old model was a battery eater for sure but the new LED model is much better about that. The LED model I have is the Executive Elite E2e. This flashlight can just about run all hunting season on one set of batteries. BUT if you lose it, you will be pissed at yourself.
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: madshark on March 26, 2009, 07:42:38 pm I've been very happy with my 3 D Cell Maglite. I use the standard light bulb. I carry it in the nite eyez neoprene sleeve. You can clip it to your belt or it has a strap you can slip your hand into and you really don't have to grip it.
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: Russ on April 02, 2009, 06:00:53 am Get the lanyard they sell for the surefires and stick it around your neck. I got the cheap plastic surefire (About $30) and the metal one and one will last me all nite for running up on a bay. Just walking around I got a cheap LED headlite from wally world works real good and has red lites that don't spook the hog I think running up with the CD
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: JLH on August 13, 2009, 06:53:34 am Mike Kelley sells a little led head light that is allsome he sells it for 100 he also is the owner of several big coonhunting lights you can call him at 936-767-4965 I just bought 2 of the led lights and I bought me a 21 volt belt light this is the best of the best
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: LionandBoarHunter on December 05, 2009, 11:19:36 am the new stinger c4 led or the 20 xp stream light with the led swicth are the way to go both are rechargable
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: Tusk Hog on December 05, 2009, 04:14:55 pm 4 watt LED made by Task Force. You can find them at Lowes, they cost less than $30. They are bright, small, and use 2 C cell batteries. Got mine about 2 years ago. Now all my partners have them. I even keep a spare for a visitors to use.
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: hoghead on December 05, 2009, 05:42:50 pm PELICAN LIGHTS OR AWESOME HOLDS 3 C CELL ALSO WATERPROOF AN LIGHT WEIGHT U CANT BEAT IT
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: WAARHEID on December 05, 2009, 06:08:58 pm Order your surefire batteries from surefire.com If you have a friend or two you can get a better deal the more ya'll buy at one time. I can't find a better price on these batteries. If anyone can I'd like to know. I buy my 12 packs at the local Cabela's (item # QZ-516032 ) for $30. I don't know if that's better or worse 8) but that same $30 bought me three individually packaged batteries when I had to buy some at a gas station in a pich before a coon hunt a week ago. :o ??? :o Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: crackerc on December 07, 2009, 08:26:28 pm I use a small clip on light that goes on my hat for just walking around. But I have a rechargeable Mag-Lite that I use going to a bay or caught hog. Its bright, waterproof and lasts most of the night. You can also recharge it from the truck. I have a neoprene sleeve on mine that I got at Bass Pro. The sleeve has a clip on it so you can clip it on your belt loop to free your hands when legging a hog. Works great for me and I have only had to buy one new rechargeable battery for it in 5 years.

Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: kevin on December 22, 2009, 01:13:45 pm My favorite handheld light has been the rechargeable maglight. Real bright, and just mount the charger on the 4 wheeler. Its always ready to go.
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: BAW on December 30, 2009, 07:31:41 am streamlight led is also a great light and will hold charge for good bit of time very bright too
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: Eric on December 30, 2009, 10:10:04 pm I use some little led light from Wal-Mart. They are about the size of your index finger. They hold 1 AAA battery and last forever. I like them because they cost $5 and are small so you can throw them in your pocket. I can't stand luggin a big light around and head lamps get taken off by the brush.
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: FORREST on January 04, 2010, 03:34:52 pm Just bought a new light from wal-mart, its a Coleman Max LED. Uses 2 AA batteries and puts out 115 lumens. Waterproof and is incased in aluminum. About 6" long, for about $25
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: sgt.davis on January 13, 2010, 09:17:27 pm Go with Stream Lights. The Stinger model. Its rechargable and heavy duty. I bought one 5 years ago and I work at a prison so I use it every day. I also use it huntn. Its a damn good light.
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: SoupHound09 on January 15, 2010, 01:20:16 pm man i would have to say a pelican they are almost indistructable an with new batteries will last several nights an as said before they are waterproof! an they come in head lights an hand helds in several different sizes!
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: Naz on February 16, 2010, 05:51:21 pm I have many types of lights. Streamlite, Sure Fire, and Pelican Lights. I just purchased a 3 cell maglite LED and it is without a doubt the best and brightest bang for the buck. It with also double as a portable q beam.
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: RyanI on February 23, 2010, 08:52:32 pm I never understood why most hog hunters who hunt at night are running around with a little mag lite, and a pair of Cabelas snake boots that last about 6 months if your luckey. Guys, coonhunters have been playing this game a long time and have got it figured out, they make all kinds of coonhunting lights that are very bright, lite weight, and wil last for years and years. Same with boots, you cant beat a muck boot with chaps stitched on,waterproof, brairproof, and snakeproof. Will last along time. ;)
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: catchrcall on February 24, 2010, 12:16:49 am #1-plastic hat
#2-cord running down my back #3-one more thing hanging from my belt Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: rdjustham on February 24, 2010, 02:16:34 am for hog hunting i use streamlights buckmasters led head lamd. has three green leds and one bright white led. You can use the either one or all three of the green ones and they seem to work great at night. the white lights alot better when we are working a hog but i use the three green while walking.
Now at work i have both a rechargeable mag light and a rechargeable stremlight stinger. I trust my life to a flashlight working nights and wouldnt trade them for anything for too reasons. One they are bright and have the momentary buttons if you learn to press it right and two the are indestructable my mag light saved my life by knocking a guy out, and they both came with both a home and car charger so they stay charged no matter where i am. But flashlights like gun holsters are a trial and error piece of equipment. Some guys on my shift dont like the stinger for one reason or another but ive had both for five years and love them. Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: RyanI on February 24, 2010, 03:23:47 pm They make soft caps, and cordless lights, the battery pack only weighs a couple of pounds........ ;)
Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: fishinjunky on March 01, 2010, 09:58:35 pm marauder flash lites from hawglite.com is pertty darn good.. $125 red, green, and white lites. takes 3 AAA batteries.and comes with accessory for bow.. on new moon nites i can get out atleast 100 yds.. i like it..
now im not stuck on one product ill try anything that works,, another flash lite is from sniper hawg lites i have heard and seen there not to bad also ..... Title: Re: Flashlight Post by: brw7979 on March 02, 2010, 12:31:56 am I use the streamlight sl-20x. Its rechargeable, with an adaptor for the house and another one for the truck. Works great and is really bright. Has a led mode which will save battery life and then a regular flashlight mode for brightness.
