Title: finally built me a working dog horn Post by: Purebreedcolt on August 25, 2011, 05:28:59 pm Well got it done finally and the thing actually makes noise. Aint gonna use just wanted to build one for the fun of it and well it was kinda a pain but IF I build another one would be easier. Thanks to those of you that helped me in figuring out what to do.

I picked one up the other day from a antique shop. I can male some noise with it for sure, but still trying to fine tune it lol.

OK on August 25, 2011, 06:19:11 pm I started blowing this one when I feed the dogs, now they will come in to it even if there on a track which is handy if there headed to a highway or something else bad. Your horn is really slick looking good job

Title: Re: finally built me a working dog horn Post by: Purebreedcolt on August 26, 2011, 01:03:13 pm I cut mine off where is was just right at an inch across then used a small drill bit to go through till you hit the cavity then used a larger one to wallow out the mouth part then just inlarged the one to the cavity till I was happy. I used a knife and sand paper to get out the rough spots then polished mine with a wheel. Mine is kinda crude but works lol and that was my goal one that actually worked.

Title: Re: finally built me a working dog horn Post by: halfbreed on October 28, 2011, 06:13:59 pm yeah it sounds pretty sweet . it's all one piece had to take alot of horn off of it . was the thickest horn i ever worked . ive got several i made through the years but i'm gonna like this one the best i think .still gotta lot of work to do yet . might try my hand at a little schrishaw work on it .
