This is the first line bred cross in my breeding project. Tweety was bred back to her son, Obama, which was out of her and Winchester. Got 8 pups, including 2 little Holsteins, just like last years litter when I bred her to the Buck/Cash dog... RIP. The next planned breeding will be to my Hunter dog next year... a Tweety/Winchester grandson out of Circle C's Brandy dog... Obama's littermate sister.

No telling. Two showed up last year when I bred her to Buck/Cash. Well, Bryant bred Cash to their line of dogs and four showed up in that litter... so, we assumed it came from him.  Not the case in this litter.

Tweety has been traced back 9 generations... with a lot of mostly white dogs in there.

Winchester's dam came from the Winfree dogs in Coldspring... they were big into running hounds. I found out some other related dogs to Winchester had a lot of white on them. It's natural to assume those brindle curs had some hound in the wood pile.

Evidently, all three of my foundation dogs can throw these Holsteins. :-\

They ought to do the trick!  Just let the kids and Angel work their magic now and they will be nice fat and healthy pups in a few months!

looks like a handful

Do those white pups show any common traits like being alil rougher than the black ones, maybe bark alil more on track, colder noses or are they pretty much the same as the rest of the pups.  Just wondering since they are getting the color from down the line.  You might not be able to answer to much since them other pups are only a year old, but figured i'd ask anyways.

I know you have been looking forward to this cross awhile.  So I hope they get the job done for ya. Healthy pups for sure.

with any luck you could run the white ones, and hogs would think it was a calf comen towrds them, then BAM caught hog! good looken pups for sure.

Not sure, I haven't had the chance to hunt with the two from the last litter.

The little Holstein runt died this morning.

 Good looking pups. It makes me want to go ahead with my linebred project also. But I don't need any more dogs at the moment so I will enjoy watching yours.  ;D

Mike what are some of the characteristics you hope to really capture?? I guess im asking what made you choose Obama over other littermates?

As I understand line breeding, the good comes with the bad. Not saying there will be any but what could possibly be any of the bad genes or traits expressed? Obviously with this being a first time deal you don't really know, but if you had to make a guess..

O yeah, which one is mine?! ;) lol jk

Tony, I'm hoping to reproduce Tweety with the mother/son cross. I would have bred to any of the three males that I know of, but Obama is here local.

Good traits... tons of hunt, stamina, bottm, heat tolerance, temperment, easy to handle, etc...

Tweety really doesn't have any bad traits, other than her skunk fetish that i've never been able to break her of. I would like a little colder nose, but that's what Winchester and Buck/Cash bring to the table.

It's all a crap shoot right now... might just be a bunch of culls.

Ahh... I like to hear that dog still likes skunks too.... doesn't make me feel so bad  ;D

... Like you, I'd like to reproduce my Shine dog... if breeding her to a good son might accomplish it... I'm all for it...

I'm about to make a mother/son breeding if the son keeps improving in the woods. I like a father/daughter breeding better but sometimes you don't have that option..

She's at home on the Ugly Dog Ranch... Thomas and Krystal got her last weekend.

good..... did the white have any ticks in it? couldnt tell from the pictures. those two white ones seemed strange, guess it was a throw back from something in the wood pile??? the other ones sure look like momma ;D

Thanks for the pup Mike I like the little bugger already.  She don't seem to have an off switch!  She is fitting right in and is at home in the kennel with her cousin "Aunt Jamima" she bays her all day and all night long.  Already got a good mouth.  I will keep you updated on her progress.  Oops this is Thomas I am posting under Krystal's handle.

I ended up with the white dog ( Domina ) from this breeding and I thought I’d update the thread with some picture pedigree

From what I know Domina is the only one left from the Obama x Tweety breeding .

Domina is retired now but did produce a litter of pups with a Sire named Red Rock from Brick house kennels .. the one I got to hunt with was named Cowboy

Chris if you’re ever interested in breeding Domina again, if she’s able to, I have a tweety x Winchester grandson I’d love to have a pup or 2 off of, feel free to text me if you want. I love these black dogs, they’re getting on in years though. I had one (accidental) litter about 7 or 8 years ago and they threw 2 solid blacks, 3 blacks with white chests, 1 black with white toes and chest, 1 black and tan and 2 white and blacks.

Man it’s so cool seeing this post and seeing where the line started and where it’s at now. Goes to show that first cross was successful! I love the looks of those black dogs. How are they bred?

I’ve always liked BMC x Pit, and I liked the looks and traits of Plotts but never hunted with one. Never been a big hound guy but my buddy asked if I was interested in getting one of his older finished dogs that I’ve hunted with for a few years, she’s Walker x Pit. She’s made a name for herself and is one of the best dogs he had, but he’s got young dogs off of her that are proving themselves and needed to make kennel space, so I got her.

Well I was planning to breed my other older female as soon as she came in. She was a littermate to my old lead dog Dum Dum and I never got to breed him before he died so she’s been kept up to breed to the right male, so I could try to make Dum Dum again. Well shortly after I got Copper from my buddy she came in to heat and since she’s already 5 and a very rough dog that might not make it longer I went ahead and bred her. Of course my other female came in heat a few days later, and I have limited kennel space so I decided to hold off on breeding her and focus on this first litter. The pups will be 1/4 pit, 1/4 walker, 1/8 bird dog, 3/8 BMC. It’s a crab shoot first cross but I’m hoping the genetics line up good and they make some nice dogs.

Hey Chris or Mike who owned that Red Rock dog and how was he bred?

Unfortunately she has major problems I believe is cancer .. she’s just living out her life in a retirement pen we’ve built for her .

The vets have told me options on surgery, but I believe surgery would kill her .

I’ll post some off spring too , she would be a great aunt too , but they’re still really young and not proven.

So the Obama x Tweety breeding was a Mother son cross ..

Mike could probably go more into details about the dogs before them .. I only got to be around Tweety a little bit before she died .
