Title: knife problem? Sorry posted in wrong forum Post by: Peachcreek on September 11, 2011, 05:03:23 pm The other night i went hunting with Mike and when I went to stick the boar my knife would not make it through the shield. I pushed so hard it literaly pushed the boar over and it did not penetrate, I had to use Mikes knife. I had just been bragging to my wife the night before about how well the knife she bought me had been working. I have stuck 7 hogs with the el cheapo she bought me so far. I guess none have had a shield like the boar the other night. I know you all have talked about knives in the past but what are yall using lately? And Mike what was the Buck modle number I used of yours? My elcheapo just looks like a big mean hunting knife and has a real good point and i keep it sharp, for the life of me I cant imagine why it would not work.... but it didnt. >:( Guess I will be buying a new one

X2 Under the front leg is where we stick'em. Easy access to the heart. Title: Re: knife problem? Prolly should have stuck lower but in the heat of the deal i was just doing what came natural. and that didnt work. Next time I will wittle a lil lower probably with a different knife ;) I guess I had gottin into a bad habbit going right behind the leg down low. It had always worked fine in the past. I learn something new with every hunt ;D Title: Re: knife problem? Sorry posted in wrong forum Post by: Mike on September 11, 2011, 05:31:12 pm Buck 119... slides in easy no matter where you put it!

Title: Re: knife problem? Sorry posted in wrong forum Post by: dub on September 11, 2011, 08:31:36 pm Get some stones or even a hand sharpener and sharpen up to the tip. Then pick a softer spot. I use el cheapo knife myself with no problem. Mine is sharp to the tip. Whipe it off after every stick and wash it after every hunt you use it. Blood is hard on blades.
