there aint enough ladies in the sport to have a ladies only, thats just my opinion, i think it should be just the normal classes, 1 dog, 2 dog, old-young, puppy

You're right, its none of his concern, but why do the ladies need their own class? Achievements are cheapened by segregation. Women are just as capable as men right? If this is your belief, then why would you settle for second fiddle?

Bum Phillips said a good coach can take hisn's and beat yourn's and then take yourn's and beat hisn's.  This is what I mean by there's no necessity for a segregated tournament. If you got the skill, then let it shine. Throughout all of history women, blacks, the crippled and even redheads have earned respect by reaching out and taking victories, not being handed honorable mentions. If I was a dame, id be working ten times as hard as any man to be without a doubt the best. There are several women in this sport who achieved that level of success.

it would be fun to watch just the ladies go at it . i don't bay yet but i would try an get my daughter to go with me and let her enter with a couple of my dogs . i think it would get more young ladies in the ring instead of just watching from the sidelines . and with that when they get married they might not give a man so  much grief about dogs  ;D ;D ;D think into the future

Skipper  I am in on that one for sure that is more my class . Look y'all this is about having a good time and working dogs meeting people who have the same intrests male or female its not about anything else . Our organization donates money to the working dog organization that fight for our rights to own and work dogs in the State of Texas . We are a non profit and to do that we do different events to raise money.  This the first bay we have done on this scale and want it to be fun for everyone with out any problems. Now  if the ladies want to compete in there own run so be it guys. I have had my dogs butts kicked by many of the ladies that have shown a intrest in the ladies bay and there dogs can compete on any level . If you look you will see that many people are adding that to thier events its not new and its not going away. So lets just bay some dogs and have a good time ,I promise everyone will get a chance to run thier dogs . Lets just all have a good time it is all for the same cause. Blake I am nobody just a guy that enjoys working my dogs and talking with folks that like to do the same . I am also a person that supports working dogs and the people that work them how ever that maybe . Our rights are slowly being stripped away in this state and I choose to not set back and allow that to happen with out some kind of fight . The problem is that it takes money to fight these groups that want to see working dogs come to a end .These groups have the power and the money and are winning this battle . So this is who I am just a regular old guy trying to do something for fellow working dog owners I am nobody special. I hope you come to the bay and enjoy yourself and hope to get to meet you. First off, who is blake94?????? Second, if you don't like them having a ladies class, then don't like it and keep your opinons to yourself. I didn't see where anyone asked for an open discussions on why they thought it was stupid or not. Third, its not about giving any special rights to the ladies or the ladies asking for any special rights. Its about trying to promote to get more ladies to start up in baying competitions. Put it this way blake94. Say you come to a baying comp, and i see that your wife is with you standing back and not really enjoying herself. I approach her and try to get her to join a class and run some dogs in her name. You would get pissed off that i approached your wife and started talking to her. Now if My fiance approached her and started talking to her and got her to start baying dogs, then it would be okay. Its about all the women getting together to try to get other women started in the sport! The bottom line is, if you dont like it, then keep your mouth shut and have your own bay competition and dont have a womens only class!

Yes she can , I am glad I am not in that class there are going to be some good dogs in that group .

If she runs the dog in the ladies class then she is the only handler that can run the dog in any of the other classes that the dog is entered in , it can not be handled by anyone else in any other class! Just wanted to make sure everyone is clear on that .

I am sorry for adding to all the bs about a lady's handler class. But i know that myself and two other ladies that are asking for the class, run our dogs in every class with WHOM ever is in it. We, I are not asking for any special treatment. It is another class that will bring more options to the table, more opps for the dog to run in. and like spencer said, something for the ladies that get dragged around to baying or hunting. I as a lady,  LOVE working our dogs. I am not always able to go hunting so the bayings have giving me something to do with the dogs that we already had. Sowhat is wrong with adding to sport? bringing in new people? giving more options? And i would like to thank John and Skipper and the others that are being open to the ladies class.!!!!!!!!!!  ;)

I think your confused with the Rockin H bay where they asked what everyone thought about the ladies only class. The Ladies here were just asking John, the one putting on the bay, about having a ladies only class.

Actually, I know you very well Blake. I have about forty text from you on my phone where your always trying to buy my dogs, or trying to breed to my dogs. I have talked to you and seen you at several bayings, and even had to set you straight a few times about sticking your nose In my buisness, and for getting out of line with me. Everyone has stories of you irritating the mess out of them!! Like I said before, sorry to expose you, but I thought it was only fair that everyone knew they were dealing with a child.

I am very excited about this one this will be our first bay pen comp. I actually taught my man how to do hog buisness and how to train dogs since i learned from my dad and bro. So i will be very excited for ladies only and to go against men as well. Come on jan. It seems like this will be so much fun. But i do have a couple of  questions. I will have two litters of catahoulas can we bring them and sale them there? Especially since ill have the parents there working. Also we have a few teens that are wanting to really get into hog hunting and work our dogs can they be a handler for one our dogs in a event and if we decide to put them in another event could i handle the dog or my fiance.

Sorry was out of town I do not have a problem with selling your pups . If skipper is fine with it I am ok with it .

Just wanted to make sure that everyone knows that this bay is open to all breeds not just Lacy dogs . All breeds are welcome !! No catch dogs

Do the books close at eight on all classes or can you show up alittle later if you are in a later class

As long as you are there for the class you are running in before they close books for that class you are good . Hope to see you there !!

Do you think ten o'clock would be early enough for two dog ameture only asking because we are about three hours away and have a little one coming along

There is no way I could say for sure and would not want to lie to you and have you get there and it be to late .

Its all gonna depend on how many people show up for the baying to determine the length of time on each class.

i was just wndering cause if the count being 3 seconds and 2 counts of 2, to make that work the hogs needa be as even as possible, i mean i kno its a bay event and i'm not worried about catchin out but there is so many damn cry babies out there that will cry, i kno my dpgs arent that good but u arent gonna hear me cry, most of the folks that do there dogs arent worth a bullet

If a dog gets a 2 count it won't place anyway. So,why chew up a good hog.

Blake are you coming to our bay ? I hope so it sounds like you have some really good dogs that are going to be hard to beat ! I can not wait to see them in action. What classes are you going to run them in ? How many bays have you entered them in? What bays were they ? How many time have they won at other bays? Do you have some pictures of them in the bay pen ? What kind of dogs do you have? If you get a chance post up some pictures of them in action would like to see them. I bet your proud of them.  I agree Skipper no reason to chew up a good hog !

Blake not sure I have never had to DQ any of mine or had the judges DQ them either. They know better than to grab a ear and hold on .  ;D

If the other dogs have a bad day 2 mistakes might slip in for a third place check or trophy.

Bringing to the top- and lets stop all the drama if you are going to come out and support this baying come out and support if not- dont.
If you want to talk about baying rules start another thread. This is already an established QUALITY bay pen with a reputation, they are being very cordial to answer any and all questions asked and do not need to be harassment or hi-jacked with stupid crap or disagreements of rules already in place, that have been run successfully the same way in repetition with many many repeat patrons, that bay all over the country .  I'm confident when I say that  a young person with your experience commenting and hi-jacking this thread about a piss ant few seconds on a an established rule is not going to change anything at this baying. However The owners/operators of this bay pen are willing to discuss the why/why-nots of how  it has come to be, so as you would understand if you would be polite enough to ask. However IMO the manner at you which you are approaching this is not in the least bit polite or proper way to handle the discussion you are trying to partake in. Thats what PMs are for also, or start another thread discussing rules.

If you dont like the rules, dont show up and dont spend your money, but dont use this forum to try and make your opinion into an argument, understood?. Now let everyone get back to enjoying the planning and ribbing about the upcoming events. Teasing, picking, and talking about hogs and dogs is what this is supposed to be about, THIS WILL BE A GOOD BAYING TO GO, I HAVE NOT BEEN TO ONE IN ALONG TIME, might need to see if I can catch a ride myself!

I got a call today so I just wanted to make sure everyone under stood that the youth bay is same rule as the womens bay . If a youth enters a dog in the youth bay he is the only one who can handle that dog the rest of the event. If you want to run it in a second or third event you can but youth has to be the handler. Thanks looks like we are going to have a good turn out !!

ok so im still getting all the baypen lingo down, what is the difference between calcutta and option?

Calcutta is where the auction off the runs to the highest bidder, and option is where you just pay and extra fee, or not and go on with it.

I think the option will be better for the ladies. The money will stay with the ladies if they buy their option, and not to the highest bidder. Plus it will move it along quicker! popo

I wanted to thank everyone who came out to the event . I know we had a few issues that we had to work threw and I felt we did a good job with that and tried to make everyone happy and be fair. I learned a lot with this event and one is you can not please everyone no matter how hard you try. Over all it was a great time and a  lot of good folks and dogs . Thanks to everyone we will post event winners in a couple of days . Thanks again for everyones support . I want to thank our pen help. Great job to you guys well done thanks for your hard work . We had 261 dogs entered and we ran 175 runs with 11 bay offs total of 186 runs . The pen help was out standing to have that many runs in that amount of time it was done in with no problems or delays  is just greart a job well done.   Thanks to Skipper for the use of his place and hogs !!!!!!!

John ya ll did a great job! I can not wait for the next one ya ll put on! The Koepp family had a blast! I think for yalls first bay it was great! It was better then some bay pens that have been putting bays on for a long time! It was good judges, good dogs, good hogs, and most of all good people that put on this bay! Thank you!
