Title: Titus Pulo
Post by: uglydog on November 12, 2011, 11:24:59 am
Its taken me a few days to get to where I could hold it together to write about my Bulldog, DDK's UDR Titus Pulo, United Kennel Club American Pit Bull terrier. I am writing this because as I have said it has taken me a few days, and in those days I have also had time to reflect and process. I  know I am not the only one that shed a tear over this dog passing, I apologize to those that may have been waiting for me to say something. I felt like Titus was a community dog that I shared with everybody and hoped he left and impression on all those he came in contact with, as he went alot of public places as He was a stable dog that could be trusted to be reliable in every situation. I could hand the leash to anybody and know the fat headed dog would take care of my friends as he was expected to do in the woods or in real life as he was also trained in protection. many a teenage girls had used him as a giant pillow and I have to admit I have too many times.

Titus was easy to please, he loved to work, give him a job of any kind and he was happy, he could go anywhere. He loved people, he naturally watched over kids, and wanted to be gentle with them. He was especially fond of my daughter who is of at college now but he thought he had to watch over her and keep her safe. Baby chicks would climb all over him and he knew he was there to watch over them, the goat would butt him and he would not even even growl. Yet he could be sent to catch a particular goat on command to help me and let it go on command. Now hogs he did not have that much self control or self preservation over he would slam and dominate and wagging his tail in the process, the bigger the  the better he liked it.
Besides work he was just a fun dog. We all liked to play with him, everybody did. From throwing rocks in the bottom of the river for him to retrieve to sicking him on small bushes/trees to pull up by the roots, just to see how amazingly dedicated is this crazy dog! He represented the breed and acted as an ambassador for the Pit BUll breed on many occasions in public meeting, greeting and educating people showing off his silly tricks and letting people see the Pt Bull in a positive role.

RIP FATHEAD

RIP ,, ALL HAIL, KING TITUS!!  What a wonderful eulogy for an obviously amazing dog and friend. It's never easy losing a member of the family.  To me that photo of Titus where it looks as if he's yodeling, captures his spirit and character.  He looks like one of those dogs so many wish for, so few are ever fortunate enough to own.  We'll keep ya'll in our prayers

Krystal,

I sure hated to hear this and I'm truly sorry your loss. Y'all have had a rough couple of weeks at the Ugly Dog Ranch. Dogs like Titus are few and far between.

Krystal,

I'm very sorry for your loss. He was indeed a very cool dog, not to mention that head that would not fit in a five gallon bucket. I truly enjoyed being around him the few hunts that I made with him. Yall had the pleasure of sharing life with one great dog, once again sorry for the loss.

We all lost a good once last week.  Pulo was owned, trained, and cared for by Krystal but he belonged to many of us.  He touched and took care of many people.  He was truly a very versatile dog.  I loved taking him to the woods.  Him & his fathead caught many hogs and was truly an ANCHOR of a dog.  Titus and I bonded pretty well during the Halletsville contest 2 years ago.  My catchdog had recently gotten injured, so Krystal let me borrow Titus.  We ended up catching 29 hogs during the weekend, and I think Titus was latched onto 25 of them.  He will definitely be missed.  Thanks Krystal for training and molding him into the special dog that he was.

Sure will miss patting on that big ole square head when I come visit.  He could catch as good as any but his manners at the Frio river were what really impressed me.  He was one of the few with brains and heart and both were big!

Was saddened greatly when you told me about this!!  He was one heck of a dog and a great ambassador for his breed as well as all dogs.  The good Lord broke the mold when he sent you Titus.  I will remember the great time we had with him at the Frio River and every visit we made to your house.  My hope is that Fo Shizzle will follow in her father's footsteps for you as the good ones are hard to replace.  He will be greatly missed by many.  God must have one heck of a hog problem up in heaven because he sure has called some good ones home.

Speaking of being a pillow for many a teenage girl - my daughter and her "Titus Pillow" on one of our visits.

RIP Titus - you will be missed terribly and never forgotten
