Title: Torture
Post by: levibarcus on December 09, 2011, 09:06:02 pm
I was driving back from my last delivery today just at dusk and there were about 20 hogs in a pasture right by the road. Some were shoats but some were some good hogs. This working for a living sucks!

Jared, I just started a couple of weeks ago driving a truck for Nor-Tex Tractor, the New Holland dealer in Sulphur Springs. It is just part time for now but after working for myself for years it really cramps my style! At least I am driving in the country for the most part.

seems like a good job for meeting ranchers and gaining access to hunting properties.

Where you driving, a buddy of mine was on Hwy 59 and saw 20 or so head in a pasture on 1 of my spots that borders the Hwy.

My thoughts exactly Circle C. About 10 years ago I worked delivering furniture and any time we would deliver to a farm or ranch I'd always bring up hogs.  A lot of land owners then wanted some help.  But this is before I had hog dogs and we were just trapping them.  Levi just try and use this job to your advantage.

I agree Circle C, I already picked one good deal up. A very large dairy that I made a delivery to has 11 hog traps that are 60 ft round pens. They said they just shoot the hogs because nobody would come and get them 20 or 30 at a time. I told them their problem was solved, that I would come get every hog they could trap. They said the most they caught at once was 44!

Where I saw the hogs last night was on some mining property off of Hwy 67. Unfortunately they won't let anyone on the mine to hunt, probably for liability reasons.
