Title: Re: skunk smell Post by: redneckrob on December 12, 2011, 03:12:35 pm Try peroxide and some form of scent away soap works on vest and dogs gonna have a lingering smell no matter what but usually goes away in about a week.
Title: Re: skunk smell Post by: charles on December 12, 2011, 04:04:26 pm same happened to me a couple wks ago. i got lil smell, but i left mine outside till yesterday and it still had a lil smell to it, but wasnt bad. the dog collar wasnt so lucky. i used sent away soap n soaked it, boiled it and it still smells a lil, but its tolerable. maybe the old sayin of lemon or tomata juice and soakin in that and then washin it off.

Title: Re: skunk smell Post by: dub on December 12, 2011, 08:56:26 pm I have got so used to the skunk smell. I came home one morning left the boots outside and put the clothes to be washed took my shower and got out to my wife wanting to know why my stinky skunk clothes were in the house. I told her there was no way they smelled like skunk and she told me to get them out or I will be out. They woke her up in another room and I did not smell it or the dogs. I have hunted with too many skunk catching dogs. ;D I call it "eau de hog hunter" it is scent mask for hog dogs rolleyes and what is left over after the shower makes my wife love me more ;D She would not agree but you know how women never admit men are right ;D

When I was in the 7th grade, our tom cat got in a fight with a skunk under our doublewide. I remember it smelling so bad, that we couldnt sleep, but the smell gradually went away as the evening/morning progressed. Anyway, the next day I got up, everything was fine, and got dressed for school. Mom took me, and I supposedly smelt so bad that the teachers made me sit in the hall.....We couldnt smell it, but everyone else could!!!!! It was a tragic event in my life and everyone still talks about it every now and then Title: Re: skunk smell Post by: cpasket on December 13, 2011, 07:23:21 am Its pretty bad i walked outside yesterday to feed dogs and opened the feed room and the smell about knocked me down it come blowin out at me :D
