Title: Bob Cat Help
Post by: heavyhitter89 on December 19, 2011, 08:35:09 am
I live out in crosby and here for the past few  months they have been clearing out land and taking alot of woods out. We have notice that alot of pets, horses, and calves have been getting killed, we never knew why until two night ago we saw what has been doing it. There is two or three big bob cats roaming around the woods that are back behind our pastures and coming in every night to our pasture but we cant get close enough to get a shot at him, I was wondering if any of you guys were from around here or know somebody that may want to come out and hunt these cats maybe with some dogs? if so please let me know

Bobcats are predators and will get a pet possibly. Doubtful on a calf and for sure not a horse. They are not near as aggressive as yotes.

yeah thats what i was thinking poodles and house cats maybe a young kid goat. but they would have to be world record b-cats to kill a horse even a northern linx wouldn't try that . where is crosby i'm a master predator caller [ don't know how you get that title but there seems to be a bunch of em around  ;D ] and that would be your best bet unless you got plenty of country to run a cat with dogs . and the old reliable steel traps allways work .

Where at around Crosby? How much land do you have permission to run them on?

total i have permission to hunt all the land around my land, the horses were just scratched up pretty bad but i doubt it also  about the cats killing calves, but i have seen these cats to close to our land, being that my son plays out side to much and my young dogs in the pen in the back but as far as land goes there is about 20 miles long and about 10 miles wide. its mixed between woods and pastures. All the ranchers in this area are concerened about the cats and the yotes dues to the land around us getting cleared out. I think that if i can get somebody out there to try to maybe call them in and shoot them but i dont know where to start.

If you have the land available, I can bring hounds. If you don't have much land, calling is a good option. If you do feel comfortable turning expensive dogs loose, I would like to have a look around first. Just let me know. 512-903-2686. tom

A bob cat anit gonna kill a calf , they eat mainly birds rats rabbits an squirrels they don't hunt anything that's very big , they are not like a Mt lion at all , I would say there sone stray dogs gettin calfs or a pack of yotes , one yote or 2 is gonna have a hard time with a health calf that is got any age to him , mayb a few day old one might get to be lunch but a month or so old is gonna take sone work to get down
