Title: Dogo pup Rash/hair loss
Post by: James Ket on December 26, 2011, 04:05:39 pm
Our 6 month pup has some hair loss and a skin rash. The skin seems a little scaly. Not sure if it's dry skin or allergies. Or could it be mange?  Thanks.

We put straw in not that long ago but I can't remember if the stuff started before or after.

That is a Dogo problem. In my opnion Digis with it should not breed and pass it on. I had one that I put some conconxion of mineral oil and something I forgot. It get better but did not go away. Unfortunatly the dog died but the Dogos I have now do not have that problem.

I would guess those are hot spots, try some happy jack, nu stock or vetericyn.

typical of the breed, you will have to get use to it and buy lots of "medicines" and get used to alot of different theories of what it is and what causes it. been there done that and three different vets will give three different explanations because they dont know either, But the DOGO BREEDERS KNOW its there and its hereditary and because the Vets can't put a cause on as a defective or "poor health" then it will keep being bred into the dogs

Looks like démodétic  mange to me, that's a shame if it is and people are still breeding them.

Dematox mange is correct. Looked at it under the microscope today with my vet.
