Short version.

He weighed 155#'s with guts on the check station scale. Free-cast the dogs. They shut him down in an old cutover. Herb's dog had an ear when we got to the bay. The boar's rear foot had a club-foot. Interesting to say the least. His teeth were not sharp, but he used them like daggers. The dogs should be fine. I can't say the same for the boar. On the tape measure, one side was 2 3/8" and the other was 2 7/8". Not bad for around these parts.  Herb is going to make him in to a European mount.

It's a lost cause. I soaked it in enough fabric softener to do 30 loads of wash. I left it over night. It did not help much.  I left it on him a good bit, and he walked around with it on, but he did not move fluidly. I gave it back to Herb. I'll keep looking for one better suited to him.

is the dogs that found and caught the hog belong to herb? or just the catch dog? i just didnt see the catch dog in photos? nice hog. looks to be an ole 1

never mind, i just re-read and seen where the dogs that found and caught prob aint suited for an internet photo. i hope they heal up for him.

We turned my hounds loose and dumped Herb's buck dog with them.  Buck is getting better about keeping up with them, until they jump.  He is a little dog (maybe 35#'s), but he has the heart of a lion.  After the hounds jumped him, Buck did what he needed to do to shut him down.  Buck is a nice dog.

That is the Buck dog of Herb's.  I won't take a pic with my hounds in it unless they were major contributors in the action.  When we got to the bay, they were selling it out, while ol' Buck was hanging.   :D

I told you "hound hunters" spend most of the time in the truck.  I have the Astro 320, so I won't have to cross those muddy creeks you like to play in.  I don't like having dirt under my fingernails.  LOL!!!!   ;D

It has a very poor hog population in the dog hunt section. That being said, it is slap ate up with bears if that is something you have on your bucket list.   ;)

The do not babble, but when they strike in, they are as open as one can be.  Yes, they are open.  As for grit, they are gritty, yet not stupid.  They know their limits.  I have no issues with their level of grit.   ;)

I have to agree with the forest being absolutely covered with bears. We hunted it a couple times and seen three bears in one day. My buddy's dogs got on one and by the time we caught up with em 2 of the dogs had a small piece of skin shaved from their back and side.
