Title: Rust Spots on Guns Post by: BA-IV on January 19, 2012, 01:24:31 pm Is there a easy fast way you can get rust spots off a gun. I had a lever action 22 behind the seat and my kids got in and left the back sliding glass cracked and didn't realize the gun had got wet. It has some rust spots on it now I would like to get off. Thanks.

Oil the rust spot and the surrounding as well as a small spot on the wool and rub GENTLY it will pull the rust out then just oil it up and your done.

And I used to be a manual machinist and I would take a pass at .002 and used the string shavins from that just cause I was scared to use regular steel wool it was a lot finer

If it's a blued finish try a brass bristle brush( used bore brush). Then touch up blue by heating the area with a blow dryer or heat gun and apply re-blu.

I cant even look at my 870 with out it rusting. Lol took it duck hu ting once and that was the last time ill ever do that.
