Title: Quick Track question - need help. Post by: jsh on March 21, 2009, 01:13:27 pm I've been getting 180 degree readings from my Quick Track receiver lately. It'll show the dog in front of and behind you with about the same signal strength. Am I using it wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Reason I ask is when I first started using it (I bought it used) I never had the problem, but this morning I was tracking my dog and couldn't really determine which way he was till he walked up behind me.

If that doesn't work, send it in to Quick Track and have them take a look. You should not have any 180 problems on the big yagi antenna. Title: Re: Quick Track question - need help. One last question and I'll quit bugging y'all. The guy I bought it from told me to match the gain to the channel. So for example if you're tracking channel 4 the gain should be set to four.

You may have had the gain up too high and the signal was so strong it was reading no matter which direction you were facing? Title: Re: Quick Track question - need help. If you have a 6000 model and you are tracking a 217.255 collar then you would set the black click numbers to 7 2 5 and then adjust the chanel around the 4-6 mark to dial in the collar as closely as possible and then start with the gain as low as possible. To figure true direction when you are getting two reading that are 180 apart, move to another spot. Your dogs are where the direction of the one of the orginal 180 was pointing and where the new signal is pointing. I would bet that the dogs are close when this is happening. If you can get a strong siganal on the short range switch, just put the system up. On short range you should be able to hear the dogs if they are bayed and they should be able to hear you if you call. Wind will affect your ability to hear.
