Title: We Can Finally Sleep. Post by: chainrated on January 25, 2012, 12:58:10 pm This hog has outran us 3 times and did a D@mn good job of it. He has cost us quiet a few hours of sleep over the last 2 months. Shawn has called me every day (sometimes twice a day) to remind me of how much he hates this hog and how sorry all our dogs are.
We bayed him twice the first time we ran him but he broke before the bulldogs got there. He stopped again at about .75 mile and Lop got there and caught but we couldn't get to them in time. Well last night I guess he had started gettin cocky (which I don't blame him) and he messed up and stood there long enough for that Lop headed dog to get to him again but this time he had Snowman and Kalevra and Rufus right behind him and they were not there to play... That's amazing you wouldnt think that one that big would run that far, but I believe it!! Some of them don't get big by being dumb. Congratulations, that is a monster with an even better story. The one I get on is atleast a 16 to 20 mile run before the dogs start falling out on him he may bay once but that's all dogs. Ran him a little over 12 hours last time I was on him.

That's what this one did. He would stand there for one dog for a minute or two but as soon as he heard the others coming he was gone. Rain had 16 miles on her collar the first time and about that the other times. We tried to send fresh dogs to him when he crossed a road but I don't have anything else that can keep up with Rain right now and after a few hours they would start falling out. I hate to let a big hog get away but those are the ones I love to hunt.. Hope to see some pics of the big one you're after JP.. HOLY CHIT!!!!!!! ??? ??? ???
