Title: 03/19/09 Hunt
Post by: madshark on March 22, 2009, 11:17:19 pm
Met a friend out at a little spot I got for a quick loop.  Dropped the dogs about 0730 and had one on the ground by 0800.  A boar about 150# with pretty good bottoms.  Seemed like a good start so we got moving again.  A liitle bit later the dogs started baying about 300 yards out so we head that way.  We'd get close then they'd be off again.  Went like this for most of a mile.  The curs finally came in and we lost that one.  Went like this a couple more times as we heaqded over towards a little creek.

We lost Molly, so I started tracking.  Found her and got back to the group about an hour later.

We decided to start moving back toward the truck and Belle and Peanut are gone.  So I started tracking them.  I'd get close, then they'd take off again.  Did this for most of a mile.  When they finally came in both of them had blood all over them, no cuts.  Guess they finally killed whatever they were after.  Never heard a bark.  If its under 100# Belle will usually catch right off.  I am surprised we didn't hear Peanut.  She's usually pretty open.

Josh had a Garmin system and the dog with that collar totalled 26 miles that day.
