I'm trying to get a shot gun for dove hunting gun I want to get be able to hit a bird next season but I don't wan a do it by putting a bunch of pellets downrange . I was told by a friend to find a single shot 12guage modified choke shot gun with a 28in barrel . I was hoping someone would have a gun that meets this critera

If you shoot many shells that gun will kick your ass. Go with an 870 and you will be fine. I like carrying a 26" barrel for doves.

better get plenty of practice to bird hunt with a single shot.  And yes, a single shot has a lot more felt recoil

x 2 on the ass kicking! I say save your money and buy a good simi auto. A pump is a good ole reliable, more eccanomic choice but they tend to kick hell out of you also. Ima Browning fan myself but the reviews are really good on Benelli and Beretta simis also.

love my 870 but if you get one just know that it will rust very quickly if not oiled often! i plan on getting mine painted max advantage 4

Do you have an express or wingmaster?  I have 3 wingmasters, a 12ga, 20ga, and 16ga, and its baddd humid in east TX, I don't have problems with rust.  They are all 30+ yrs old.  Maybe you've got a newer one?  with cheap steel?

cableas has/had rem 870 express and express mags for around 300. i got a turkey choke in mine and it holds hella pattern for a good distance. the express mag will kick like a mule hemed up in a stall if you shoot 3" shells out of it. my epress aint to bad, but i will not ever bird hunt with it. to much poundin on the shoulder for a lil meat.

i have the express but not the magnum.. only the magnum shoots the 3 1/2.. it sells for like 290 or something like that but its the black matt finish and its just a cheep coating.. if not oiled every use it will rust.. even from just your finger prints on it.

I have the .12 ga rem 870 express mag pump and I've used it onpigs dove squirrel duck rabbit and quail its the most versatile gun I own but I have the same problem with the rust. If I was gonna do it over again I woulda gone with the wood stock instead. And if you use a lighter load it won't tear up your shoulder or ruin meat

The express i have, i havent had a bit of problem with it rusting n very seldom oil it, even aftr i take it out shooting. Yaw mustv gota bad batch on the bluing

If it is ur first shot gun yes go with a single shot it will make u more selective in ur shots.  Also if you shoot the lighter dove loads you will be fine.  Check the pawn shops you may get lucky usually can pick one up cheap.

Ive owned them all. Like I said. Save your money and by a quality auto loader. You can thank me later.  :D
