Title: What is he?? Post by: chads7376 on February 06, 2012, 09:19:56 pm Ok, I have this brindle dog that I bought a few months ago. I was going to trade him for a gyp because that's all I have but didn't have much luck with that. After hunting a few more times I think I am just going to have to keep him and deal with his male issues. He makes me like him more and more every time we hunt him. Anyways my question is: What breed/breeds do yall think he has in him? He is about a year and a half old and weighs about 75 pounds

Post by: brw7979 on February 07, 2012, 10:46:18 am Not to sure what exactly he is but I've got a dog that I didnt know what he is. I googled dog dna tests and ordered one it was $65. Ive been waiting on the results and should have them back in about a week or two. The company is very reputable and has great reviews. So thats an option that you might want to look into if you want to see what he has in him.

Just judging by the ear set, tail thickness, and the way his hind quarters are built. Also the way he carries himself. How does he hunt? and does he give a little mouth when a hog breaks?

The guy got him from somebody else. Hunts nose up for the most part. He has a real loud deep bark. He runs with one of my gyps the whole time and one of them yips a few times when the hog breaks. Thats if he hasnt already caught it. Gets real catchy especially if there are several dogs there.

HE LOOKS LIKE THE OLD STYLE BRINDLE CUR DOGS THAT ALOT OF OUR GRANDFATHERS RAISED AND USED FOR JUST ABOUT EVERY THING. MY GRAMPS CALLED HIS " MEAT DOGS ". YOU NEVER KNEW WHAT YOU WERE GOING TO CATCH WITH THEM, BUT YOU COULD BET IT WOULD BE MEAT FOR THE POT. THOSE OLD TIMERS DIDNT BREED FOR PAPERS, THEY BRED FOR WHAT WORKED, AND THEIRS NO TELLING WHAT ALL THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE IN THEM.
