EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

We have a problem with some of our older dogs and even younger dogs having issues with swollen joints just above their paws and sometimes even swollen feet. I dont think it is an issue other than inflamation from deep bottom and hunting them so hard after long breaks of summer and  the winter deer season.

Does anyone else have this issue and if so what can be given to the dogs to help??

I workout alot and take glucosamine which is specifically to help keep your joints lubricated, I also take fish oil which helps joint recovery and stiffness. Can i assume that since it safe for me to take it I can start giving it to my dogs to help there inflammation??

I GIVE DOGS FISH OIL DONT KNOW IF IT WILL HELP WITH INFLAMATION BUT IT WILL SLICK THEIR COAT OUT

Trenton we feed red bag victor and thanks for bringing that up. we were actually gonna pick up ten bags to selectively feed to the harder hunted dogs with swollen appendages and see if it made a difference?!

does anyone feed the joint recovery victor?

Tony, you can also give them the glucosamine/chondroiten tablets that they sell for humans... that's what my vet recommended I use for Tweety.

Several of us have also switched to the Victor 26/18, purple bag, as the 24/20 seems to have changed. Dogs are doing real good on it.

   Tony , i give Banamine and Glucosamine to all my older Dogs
   and younger dogs when needed

   1/2cc Banamine IM
   Gluc. gel tabs everyday

Big E thought there might be a difference in 24/20 as of late.. The dogs don't respond as well to it

X3 I've been working out of town over a month now and when I come home on weekends I've been dissatisfied with the looks and levels of the office kennel dogs. I've griped at the boy who feeds them for me and he swears he hadn't changed nothing. I'm going to my feed store tomorrow and picking up the teal bag.

I havent been hog hunting long but I have alot of experiece with coondogs I always use 2 cc Dexamethasone, 1cc Banamine and 3cc lincomycin for 3 days in a row

Tony, Total Health Enhancement makes some real good stuff, we supplement with their stuff on the dogs and the horses. He can mix you up whatever you need if you wanna get somethin custom made up. Been using a fat supplement here lately for the dogs.
