How many of y'all have used ugly dog vest for a while ... buddy bought one for his catch dog an i thought very highly of the vest but was wondering how they held up in the long run

I would take it to a seamstress or upholstery shop and have extra stitching done to ALL the seams..
As far as the design and beatings its taken from hogs, im satisfied..

Other than the seams, should hold up with no problems!!  ;)

Miller lite, mine got split at the seam by that boar we got the other night.

Mine has served me well but thought it was just me on the stitching have had to restich the buckle straps on.

I have what they call the E vest for my bull dog. Never had any problems with it and will buy another one when this one gets wore out.

i like mine pretty good so far... i just got a older one from a friend ;) and it looks to be built way stronger than my new one. my new one is cut up pretty good already and the old one that had been used for years doesnt have a hole in it yet.

Man i cant see paying that much for a vest if you got to bring it to get restitched right off the bat.

You don't have to get it restiched right off the bat. Mine is holding up but a little extra stitching might be good preventive treatment.

I was just in the market for a new vest, i did a search on here and the one i found with the least amount of complaints was Larry Paris vest's, thats what i went with, i have a ugly dog and like it but it just seems i found more complaints on them than P&P.

JUST ASK THEM TO DO EXTRA STITCHING... MAY TAKE LONGER BUT WORTH IT...

All vest will tear or rip if the right hog hits it

I got one I have had 4 over 5years wore out but still holding up still

Some rough thick stuff. I say charge the stitching to the game lol. Im satisfied with mine and would say uglydog is money well spent!

I haven't tried many vests but I like my guardians. I see no reason to change. I have 3 now. You've seen my cd and he hunts, runs down, and catches hogs well in it. I'd get one with coated nylon straps though.

I have 4 gaurdians , I like them all , I like the service at wild boar , but mostly they have saved my friends life over and over , we have met MR.NASTY several times in the last five years and  george is still looking at me saying lets go , I have had a brand new one shredded before on the first hunt , but my dog is here ready to hunt , by the way they also replaced free of charge and didnt haft to being thats part of the sport

thanks fellas i seen codyl vest hold up nice the other night an that boar was tryin to put the whoop down on the gyp ... i didn't know it busted the seams though ... an is there a certain type of neddle they use cause my mom still sews from time to time an if i can get the neddle i'll do it myself thanks again they sound like they're worth the cash

The vests i was referring to is the Devestator and the Guardian.. I know she told me that they have a couple different shops that make their vest...

Unless a hog cuts it, a 200 dollar vest shouldnt need restitching after 3 months .... IMO

T.wilbanks, i agree with you on the restitching after 3mths. I'm not using the same vest so i cant put in any relevant input. I Can say tho that the basic bayvest and basic catch vest have held up well thus far and i am satisfied with both as of now. I also have 3 adult cut collars and 2 terrier collars that are holding up well thusfar. Wasnt tryin to start an arguement, only throwin out my opinion on what i believe are good quality products (for me anyway) for what its worth. Wildboar/uglydog customer service is what makes and keeps me as a customer.

 Our ugly dog vest is four years old and is on its third catchdog. Its probably time for a new one. This one has maybe 3 or 4 holes that go all the way through But other than that its holding up great. It has seen countless hogs in those four years. We will be getting another ugly dog vest.

I agree on the collars... I have been very pleased with them... Also agree on the customer service.. Always fast...

Ive also noticed that the only vests that have had an issue are the ones made in recent years...
It seems like all the older vest hold up very well... maybe there was a change in the manufacturer??

And now they dont carry the devestator anymore..  My Devestator will need to be repaired before it can be used again ( seams busted and buckles missing ).. NO cut throughs on it yet and ive had it quite a bit longer than the Guardian..  ;)
