Title: Saturday's Quick Hunt Post by: gnjhesseltine on April 06, 2009, 01:17:19 pm We had another good hunt this past Saturday evening with a young man in the military and one of his friends. They arrived around 6:30 and we loaded up Pinto#1, Tanner, Pinto#2, Sam, Jill, Walker#2 (new dog we just got today), Ruger, and catchdogs Jack and new catchdog Tough whom we also picked up today. Mr. Victor also showed up and brought a few of his dogs.
We turned out at the pond and headed for the east thicket. Dogs opened up and headed west. After about a good 5 minutes, I told them we needed to drive around to see if we could hear them. We drove to the west fenceline and when I stopped I could hear a hog squealing in the dried up creek bed. I turned out Jack and we headed to the bay. The dogs had the hog caught and the young man went right in there and made the kill like he had been doing it his entire life. Great job. We loaded up the dogs and went to the pond to water them. After the dogs cooled off, I casted them back toward the east thicket and again they opened and headed to the west. This time, we jump in the truck and head that way. By the time we get over there, I can hear the hog squealing. I cut loose my new bulldog tough who goes to the bay. This hog is only a couple hundred yards from where we caught the first hog in the same dried up creek bed. This was a piebald hog and the dogs had him caught . The young man gets up there and takes care of business. Another good day to be hunting and it didn't take to long as it was pretty hot here. Thanks too our young men in the military once again.
