Title: Starting pups right? Post by: Campbell1990 on March 26, 2012, 10:27:11 am I have 4 bmc x cat pups that are 3 months old. When do i start them in the bay pen and how much does a guy work with them in the bay pen before he turns them loose in the woods. This is my first set of pups, i have always had older dogs. Open to all opinions and input!!!!!
Title: Re: Starting pups right? Post by: BIG BEN on March 26, 2012, 10:53:26 am I just wait til they get a lil age like 8-9months and start staging hunts for em. 2-3 staged hunts and off to the woods they go. Bay pens have their uses but to me a woods dog doesnt need any time in a bay pen.

Post by: Reuben on March 26, 2012, 11:35:44 am you can set up winding and trailing scenarios... also finding but I would make sure they will bay a pig before I would go thrju all the trouble...don't let the pups work too long... they have a short attention span. you want the pups to always want a hog so take them out before they get too hot or tired and remember to pet them some...
