i need all the advise, tips, and tricks that any of you want to give away. me and my buddies are thinking about starting to hunt at night. the only hog hunting that i have done at night was when one of my coon dogs would trash on hogs. what are the advantages of hunting at night other than cooler weather do the hogs bay up easier. any advise will be appreciated.

Down here in south tx its way to hot to hunt in the day time. I have only hunted in daytime once just seems like we catch more hogs at night

I have herd they can't see as good at night we catch them at night have good lights and extra battereys and mark the truck stuff at night looks way different

In central Texas the coolest part of the day during the summer is the first 3 hours of the morning. I dont like to hunt at night, have done it less then 3 times the past year.

I hunt alot at night. Usually during deer and turkey season and heat of summer. Caught more bigger hogs at night than  the day. Seems like they bay up better at night to me but I have got on some runners at night too.

i hunt at night alot love it just have to stay on your toes alittle more in the dark i catch more boars at night when they are out feeding a full hog runs less

we hunt there food source or water  holes, hogs are moving at dark and i love it cause most normal people are sleeping and u dont have the bull number 2 like in the day time.

im from north louisiana. the land that we hunt is all swamp and some of the nastiest sawbriar thickets

that's wher I live too in north la. I hunt alot at night and bay up in lot thickets that u have to get on your hands and knees to get to caught hog

were abouts in north la do you live if you dont mind me asking brad.

I hunt at night alot due to work and the heat is way to hot in the daylight. I have caught alot more hogs that would tend to run in the daylight at night. Some down falls as well dogs may not range as far or stick as much i have even seen dogs that flat wont hunt at night. It takes a experienced dog alot of times at night because they are going strictly off of there nose.

I hate hunting hogs at night,.....I reckon God made dark for a reason,....so you could sleep. Just my opinion..... 8) 8)

We hunt alot at night, especially in the summer... I prefer to hunt daytime because I like to see whats going on, but we catch just as many hogs at night as we do during the day if not more.. Just make sure you mark the truck, and knowing the area your hunting helps a whole lot.. I think walking into a bay at night gets your adrenaline pumping more because you cant see what kind of hog your running up to, where hes facing, and where hes going if he breaks...

Always carry a good light with extra batteries.. A big hog coming at you when you cant see him or a tree to climb gets a little skeery at times...  ;D

My recomendation is to get one of those lights that clip onto the bill of your hat. It helps to avoid tripping on down trees but mostly when your hat gets ripped off your head by a branch or whatever you can find it ;D Running to a hog one night I tripped over a log and my hat came off. When I looked the light was shining on someone else's hat. They needed a light on it. I prefer a light that is not white so I can see what is outside the light. I also paint any gear I want to find that neon orange. So I can find it in the dark. Try finding something black in the dirt at night. With a black light flashlight you can find it fast ;D Wear thick clothes because you will run into stuff and not see the thorns. That is all I can think of now.

Good light on your head and 2 more with extra batteries in your pack.  Like others have said mark the truck.  Garmin helps.

And that's why you never go without a gun......you young whipper-snappers will learn the hard way I'm sure..... ;D ;D

I hunt a lot at night in the summer here in central tx. I'm 61 and most people are working during the day. sleeping at nite so i hunt solo a lot. You have to be extra careful, i carry a cell phone, extra light, knife and a pistol. One of the problens u have at nite is most hogs have been sleeping all day so they fresh at nite, also when u have 20 dogs u have to hunt year round, snakes are bad too..... GOOD HUNTING

I've damn near walked over bedded up hogs at night that the dogs passed up or that dropped out of the race and let the dogs go after some other ones.  Bay up more sounders at night too.  Can't stress the light thing enough and batteries.  I'd rather hunt daytime, but its cooler at night and seems easier in some aspects harder in others...

Hogs move more at night and have a good night like. They want run as hard just don't be scared get with them. Cooler more product river as well. Good night knife or pistol. Have done it on horseback that is cats meow..
