Title: Big Bertha Post by: longshot on April 11, 2009, 12:20:11 pm Callcott and I got into the hogs right at daylight. We watched on GPS attempting to drive to the dogs. We parked the truck about 50yards from them, my 3 curs and Jagd were bayed. We sent my Pit Sadie to catch and all we heard was grunting.
Out of a Cedar thicket walked a hog that stood as high as Wills waist with Saide and all the bay dogs hanging on. I got her legged and Will Disbatched her quickly. We loaded dogs and took them to cool at a near by windmill. The dogs got a wasted no time putting their nose down and started tracking off from the tank. In about 20min that had gone a little over a mile in a giant U shape(watching on the GPS)they were bayed again. This time they were caught when we drove up and had a nice blonde hog with black spots. Will shot another one that ran off while we were driving and we used Rocky to find and stop the cripple, on our way out. totaling 3 confrimed for the morning. Here is Big Bertha, anyone want to offer a dressed weight guess? It has got to be her or one just like her....LOL could be sisters?

Field dressed weight was 165lbs on our scale. I had been seeing a ton of 50-65 lbs hogs at a close by feeder. I have a ton of pics from a few years ago at a protein feeder where she helped herself. Not sure how many hogs we saw that morning but killed 3 for sure and I hit one or two more with my .30 carbine. We did see a huge boar but were unable to get on him since all the dogs were already bayed on this big girl. A great hunt, and not dogs got injured !! I did get a good suprise when I got to the bay and she drug the catch dog and 4 bay dogs out of the brush towards me !! Great hunt James, can not wait to go for round 2.
