I'm in the process of outfitting three trucks/ toolboxes to deal with the occasional roadside repair.

Just curious what others carry in their truck toolbox to deal with roadside emergencies?


Here are a few of the items on the list...

Tire plug kit
12volt compressor
jack
lug wrench
spare tail lights
fuse assortment
small roll of 12 ga wire
wire splices / butt connectors
wire stripper/ crimper
jumper cables
vice grips
channel locks
crescent wrench
pliers
screw drivers
flare kit / or triangles
flashlight



What would you add to the list?

Something that NO kit is complete without::

TOILET PAPER!!! Works well on leaks, spills, dirty hands, dirty butts, and many others!!  ;D

A few others would be gloves, electrical tape, tow strap, and a hammer... 

If yah have the room a "BLUE TIP WRENCH" is always handy. AKA Piggy Back torch set.

I forgot the towels... I keep a bucket of scrubs in each truck, and napkins in the glove box.

If you haven't tried the scrubs, you ought to. They are a bit spendy, but sure work well.

   I hadn't considered a blue torch.     What are some scenarios that you have needed on for?

x2 on the scrubs in a bucket....

A good chain or tow strap. Also a ratchet strap or two.

Electric tape
Duct tape
Zip ties

Palpation gloves!!!!!

 assortment of sockets, ratchets and extensions. some places an adjustable wrench just wont fit

I bought a small electrical kit about six years ago that is like a double sided small tackle box. It came stocked with wire strippers and crimping pliers and a test light and every kind of connector you can imagine.  I keep extra wire and tape in the kit and have used it more than anything in my tool box for trailer repairs.  I really like carrying a 4 way with a jack too. Makes life easy. Tow straps and chains put. Early in a bag made from old blue jeans work great. Never hurst to have a spare trailer hub for long hauls.

2 channel locks one is for back up...wd-40, and a set of combination wrenches from 3/8ths to 7/8ths...

Not really for a roadside repair but I like an extra set of boots and a change of clothes and maybe some bottles of water and a few snacks.

And....extra ammo  ;)

I also like to buy those big clips at TSC and put all my end wrenches on one so they dont end up scattered.  You can buy a light that sticks to the under side of the lid of the tool box that you just tap and shed a good bit of light for cheap, very handy for night time working.  I like to keep a tarp in there too to put down on the ground to lay on or to use when changing a tire.  Pair of cheap leather gloves are handy also.

Whatever I haven't lost yet.

 another thing i used to carry when i could get my hands on them for free, was them chem-lights. if all else fails with flashlights, you bend the stick and it lights up. works good for marking or warning

X2.....if you run up on a bad wreck and get out to help you need some exam gloves or gloves of some sort that won't leak blood or fluids. You just never know who you're dealing with these days....always....ALWAYS be on the safe side with this.

Pretty good list, I would add bolt cutters, fence pliers, machete, and chainsaw to the list... I like to be able to get where I need to go when I have to...

... also a good rain slicker, and can't forget the OFF bug spray  ;D

extra hat(cant do without), dog leash (for any good lookin strays ;) ), tin foil, panty hose, and a box of condoms

Cuttin torch , welding hood , pillow , sleeping bag , lighter , pine knot , pretzels , clothes an boots .... im prepared for the day my ol lady kicks me out  ;D

haha i knew that one would make someone comment, i used a condom for a dogs foot once that didnt want to get carried out so i slipped it on and taped it shut, my sister used one tied around her coolant pipe to seal off a leak ;)
