Title: Shaping Cowboy Hats Post by: mod93dirt on May 09, 2012, 12:50:03 am With the recent posts regarding cowboy hats, I have a question. What the best way to go about shaping a palm leaf hat? I've got one, that I'll admit is a cheap one, and it wont hold its shape for nothing. I like the way it fits my head, but I cant get it to hold shape the way that I want. My mother in law does upholstery work and has a high strength steamer that I have used to shape my felt hat and straw hat with. But this palm hat just wont hold its shape for nothing. I can steam it and get it lookin the way I want, but a week or so later is seems to go back to its off the shelf shape. I realize you get what you pay for, but is it just the fact that it is a cheap hat, and I am stuck with it. Or is there a better way to shape a palm hat?
