Title: Question for the pitt/bulldog guys?
Post by: weller44 on May 23, 2012, 09:03:55 pm
I picked this Sookie up from the animal shelter a little over a year ago.  Not only has she become my best catchdog she has earned the spot as one of my two back yard dogs! O

At the they called her American Bulldog. I'm no expert but I thought she looked more like a pit. I know there is really no telling without any background at all...I was just thinking may e air of you bulldog guys could help me out a little bit?

Trey looks like a pit to me his muzzle should be lil shorter and wider if he was full Ab.  Could be cross his build looks more like a Ab from the side.
Here's a pic of my Ab on left an pit on right.

Marked up like an AB but looks like a big pit to me. I'll tell you one thing for sure I'd feel very comfortable walking up on a big boar as long as she had an ear.

My bet is pit and bulldog cross. Size says part AB to me but unlike stated above i think she has pit ears the way they lay back and dont fold all the way back over. Markings look like a cross to brindle says ab cross to me.

I think she is either pit or a cross, she looks like she has more pit in her to me though.  Great looking dog either way Trey!

Thanks for all the replys guys..I guess there is no way to really tell for sure Ill just let people call her whatever they wanna call her and ill just call her a catchdog..

Jeff you are right about her making you comfortable on a big hog. She has anchored down some big ones for me since the first night I got her...The animal shelter told me she had been in serveral times for chasing cats(and catching a few) and the owners were not gonna come get her this time so she was going to be put down. I figured if she was gamey enough to Chase cats she would probly Chase hogs. Sure enough the first night I had her we took her to the woods and ended up baying up a big boar hog in a big thick bush my smaller bulldog was having Hell and she was wanting some action bad so let her go and she hit the other ear like a Mack truck then penned the hogs head to the ground. She has been solid on the ear of everyhog ever since besides one shoat that she caught by the back to us..not a bad 60 dollar cd
This was that hog

Body length and chest conformation say AB. Head and legs say pit. AB/pit cross would be my guess. Nice lookin dog that performs. Can't beat that.

I know what you mean about needing to get some pups on hogs..we need to get together and make a run sometime I'm suppose to hunt with jodee lonnies boy sometime soon.

The only breeding I know of with tank the lips aren't born yet should be dropping soon...I'm on the list to get a pup just not sure how many are ahead of me..Im sure hoping to get one!
