Title: Switch Cane
Post by: charles on May 28, 2012, 07:08:03 pm
ok, im gettin taken over in a few spots by this dang switch cane. i sprayed it with round up max pro, and it worked decent, but now it seems it has built an ammunity to the stuff. i just doubled the dosage of round up and sprayed the new cane sprouts. is there anything else other than diesel that will kill this stuff? i thought the round up worked, but again it seems it is limited in its effectivness. i got a 15x500ft run i need to rid myself of the cane. any help???

A backhoe should get rid of it ;D Only half joking. Find a way to get it out of the ground and burn it. I thinks that will kill the seeds. Maybe some Aggie with a plant education would know for sure but get it out.

i took my tractor with the root rippers on the box blade and ripped up the ground to expose the roots and just put 30 gals of water and round up to the fresh sprouts and roots. i was thinkin of taking a pto driven tiller and till the ground up and spray the heck out of it again. i would figure an old timer would have a better and cheaper remedy that some1 who paid that outragous fee for a piece of paper that says i am smarter bc i have the money to buy the diploma

call the zoo and get some pandas :P

after researching it its a plant that lives off moisture so if it was me i would till the H3LL out of it and haul in dirt to top it off and create a barrier for water and moisture

what does a panda go for these days?  ;D i will till it up when i get back from overseas in dec while on vacation and may even till used motor oil and hydraulic fluid. that should seal it off and choke out the oxygen and with the petroleum in the ground, it should reple most if not all the water.

well its fixn to have 6-12 months to grow and im gonna be putting a fence up for a 5ac baypen and dont want that stuff tearing my fence up and my hogs get out. mowing it all the time aint the solution, its like politicains it needs to be exterminated.
