Red mange can be stopped with Tackic, can get it from a Vet. Use 15 oz. to a gal. of water soak coat every week untill hair comes back and repeat if comes back. Red Mange in males and females, dog shpould be fixed when well to cut down on coming back. Stress is a cause of out breaks. I use this method and it works good. Some folks say used oil out of a diesel works better than from a gasoline motor but I was never able to compare ???
Title: Re: Mange Post by: jlingle on February 15, 2008, 05:39:58 pm Ivomec works for mange. Not the red mange, just regular. Give the dog 3/4 cc the first day, and 1/10th of a cc each day after that for a month. It'll absolutely work.

I still got one can. If you are close to Santa Fe your welcome to come over and pick it up. It does work for red mange like Mr. Mason say's. Title: Re: Mange Post by: aladatrot on February 20, 2008, 11:55:48 pm I use Mitaban on Meaty. He also gets ivermectin daily. I just spoke with Dr Kainer about a topical that he's having good luck with on manged dogs, but he said that there is no substitute for the ivermectin. There is also a salve (sulphur based) that claims to cure red mange at the feed store. I can't recall the name but Nu Stock makes it. IT WORKS. I use this on Meat, but it is expensive when one whole $14 can only lasts two applications. Smells of BarBQ too.
Neutering Meaty has made it so that I have dealt with only one outbreak in five or six months. I used to deal with them constantly. M Title: Re: Mange Post by: Jeff on August 17, 2008, 03:41:53 pm there's a new treatment for red mange. Promeris is a topical flea and tick treatment like frontline. it's not labeled as such, but rumor has it that one treatment will cure red mange, or demodectic mange.
also, my vet told me that if your dog is a male, and has only a minor outbreak as a puppy, he doesnt have to be neutered. it probably won't come back. |
