Over the last couple months, it seems like the hogs just moved off of every spot we have to hunt...
Places that we have been going for a couple years and never had a problem catching hogs dont even have sign of a hog being there...

Its pretty frustrating, as I was hoping to get my pups going good while my lead dog was out..
But I cant even get them on a hog.. Its not because they arent hunting or cant find one on their own, the hogs just aren't there...


Anyone else had this problem lately??  We hunt the Northeast Texas area...

maybe you caught them all with them catahoulas...I have had places in the past that the hogs were only in that spot at certain times of the year...like when the pecans or acorns were on the ground.

during droughts they concentrate close to water but when it rains and water becomes plentiful they will range out.

 :D  Right now it feels like im hunting Catahoulas... cant get on a hog to save my life...  >:D  ;D

Some of these places held hogs year round.. They may move to a different part of the property, but we would usually always find them..
We have spots in several areas and all with different terrains, and all of them show no sign of the hogs even coming through...

Im gonna try to get feeders going on a couple places that might allow it and hope that brings them back...

We have similar problems right now with most of our spots. I think the rain idea is spot on... when it rains as much as it has they get to move to new territory and feed new areas. I wouldn't waste money on feed right now either because of such. Your corn and ect will probably be eaten by varmits before hogs. Few of the people that I know that trap are not because there is so much other readily available food sources out there right now. JMO

had the same problem i thought  but switched it up an walked alittle an got three  i havet seen any sign on this place at all  the hogs out here are just holding real tight cuz its summer time they dont have to travel

The best job I have ever had is coming to an end...I was sitting in the middle of the woods in a no hunt area...I used to hunt it as a young man and it is full of hogs...last summer during our severe drought I counted over 90 pigs in a half mile stretch...The water had been disappearing and this one canal was about the only water around the area...I used to use the fire monitors to irrigate around the rig...the burmuda grass was growing and was dark green. Some hogs would show up every night and graze on the burmuda...I do remember that we didn't see any hog sign anywhere around because the ground was so hard...for whatever reason the hogs never rooted around where I kept the grass irrigated...when the rains came the hogs spread out and started rooting again...

Every summer the hogs at my uncles place move off towards the river which is about 10-15 miles away and they come back every winter.

I firmly believe there is early summer migration. Most all my spots and my friends spots are coming up dry right now.

I had marked 4 barrs and 3 sows behind my house several months back and caught the same hogs over and over again. Now those hogs arent showing up on the cameras no more, but there is a real good listed boar back there and a good harem of new sows he's brought with him. Soon as I get some time off I'm putting the Parker mark on the lot of em.  ;)

Is your "mark" a red wasp sting to the left front foot?   :D

Hogs are notional they take a notion to leave and they do no matter what you do

I haven't had any issues just the same as always. Allot of my places run in cycles so I have most of them patterned from month to month. They will be in for 3 weeks to a month t a time then hone for a month. Even in that period that there always there I usually only hunt it once in that period so I'm not presuring them away during that time. They always seem to come back. Not all of my places are this way I have a fee that hold them year round do to no hunting pressure. I only hunt them with guided hunters. Trent if you've got pups ready your more than welcome to come meet me at one of my places. I've got some really good puppy places that sure end up paying off as the dog matures.

Sorry tw I was ask to come start hunting your country . Them dogs of mine can take out more hogs than any helicopter.  I will stay out of your country for awhile so the hog population can build back for you. Oh yea all the hogs I left are runners so not sure how your going to deal with that. Im sure there's a thread on here somewhere that tells you how to stop them. ;D

Ive decided to hunt a few red leapord, double glass eyed Catahoulas until summers over.. Between them and you staying out of my area, the population should be BOOMING!!!  ;D

As for the runners... I will be crossing the Catahoulas with Great Danes... Glass eyed Boar Hounds..

I plan on crossing a number 2zu with a bulldog . That way I can call bullnumber 2 on all them running  hogs.

When you get tired of calling bullchit, ill let you breed to one of my blue eyed boar hounds..

That will cut down on the bull, but should add more chit...  ;D

We are on our way to breeding the best bullchit hog stopping dogs in the world. Just hope that not many people read this thread and catch on to our magical potion. If they do it will be bad for the hog world. The only post we will see is what happened to all the running hogs there are no more.  We will be telling our grandkids ( once son when I was a young man we had what they called running hogs then we came up with the bullchit breed of dogs and know there are no more running hogs I sure miss those days )  papa what's the bullchit breed?  See son back in the day they internet I know u don't know what that is I think know days its called clongchongwongflong but anyways there was a group of guys all on a chat site called easttexashogdoggers oh it was amazing people talked and chatted about hog hunting with dogs the people with hounds thought they had the best dogs , the people with catahouls thought there's was better, but everyone knew the yellow dogs was the best. But all of us guys had one problem stopping running hogs the only ones that came close to stopping these runners was the guys with the yellow dogs. But we we came up with idea to mix several breeds of dogs to get a super dogs that could stop any runner. That my son is when we made our mistake  we made the bullchit dog and posted it on the board for the whole world to see and everyone had a bullchit dog and all the running hogs are gone. Papa where can I find one of these dogs? Son there's a guy in Florida thats having trouble catching midget hogs he's got a kennel full of them his name is cutter bay  what ever you do don't go to calling bullchit cause they want be no hogs left. BULLCHIT

Yeah them Hogs was trying their hardest to hang in there durin the original bullchit craze, but the last nail in the coffin was when they started adding plott hounds to them bullchits. From then on it was only a matter of time.

At the time the bullchit was flying so fast that some folks wanted to slow em down a bit and increase their volume. They added the plott hound and everyone soon changed the name to talking bullchits

I have decided to keep em. I think im going to register them as pit bulls. Im sure I have some papers laid around. Gator mouth pits. 1/16 Eli 1/16 Eli Jr, 1/16 red boy, 1/16 carver, 1/16 jeep is that to many 1/16 or not enough if I need to add more I will.
