Title: Repairing dog leashes.......needing some info
Post by: S-S on April 26, 2009, 08:49:21 pm
I need to repair some dog leashes and was wondering if anyone could give me some information on where to buy some stainless steel brads (if that is what they are actually called).
I had some pups on leashes and tied them up to do something and they chewed thru my leashes......also will be making a few dog collars as well.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.......thanx
Michele

Hey Glen, not sure if one is around you but I get all my collar/leash stuff at tractor supply in the tack section, they have the ss brads and the brass rivets..

Yeah there's a tractor supply about 45 minutes from me......I'll make a trip and check it out.
Also, do I need a tool for the brads?
My husband talked to a guy that puts the name plates on collars and makes collars/leashes as well, he has a manual tool that he bought several years back that he uses to put the brads on, but says nobody sells these anymore that they only sell the expensive automatic tool now.

Use copper rivets. you can hammer the washer down by putting a small deep well socket over it, cut off the extra and mushroom it. works like a champ.

Most feed stores carry the copper brads.
