just wondering if anyone has ever used a doberman or a doberman bmc cross as a hog dog i found some of the cross puppies thinkin about gettin a pair figured they would have some gritt to them idk though i need some imput

Here we go !  :o I've never heard of anyone using one and I know that really does'nt count for much but as long as people have been hunting hogs with dogs and as long as Dobremans have been in the USA if they were good hog dogs then we would know it by now. There's a reason hunters have been using certain breeds and certain crosses for over 100 yrs on hogs. People can argue that Jags and Dogos were an experiment that worked out but they were proven hunting breeds in their respective countries and had been used for hunting for years. They were not new to hunting, just new to the USA. It's like mixing motor oil with Dr Pepper. Could you drink it ? Yes you could, but would it taste as good as straight Dr Pepper. I doubt it. If you try it then I hope it works for you but with the price of dog food being what it is I would'nt be willing to risk that much money on an experiment. I'm not trying to be a smart azz or start up another " internet hog dogger, toe wrasslin challenge " but you asked our opinion and that is mine. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Yup, some people have used them. I would highly recommend them. Especially if you hunt around me.

They are puppies I'm getting them for free they are a quarter ridgeback cur half bmc and a quarter Doberman I was thinking rcd or bay dogs I could tell to catch

When raising a pup the price you pay is nothing compared to the food,med and time. It costs the same to raise a scattered bred dog and one from proven dogs. Do your self a favor and pass.

Don't listen to him, what you need is a dog with hybrid vigor and them your talking bout sound like just the ticket. The more breeds in a dog, the more good qualities it will have.  ;)

Well bred dogs all they want but for most folks starting out, all they need is a bunch of crossbreed dogs to help them figure out if they're in this for the long haul and what type of dog they want.

It'd be a shame to shoot a 20 point on your first trip to the woods.

for free try it out. i would. dobermans are a hunting and working breed so why not? the have good noses too...ive seen them work on hogs. i like them. i mean every hunting dog starts somewhere why not try something out?

Who knows the ones I have been around were smart.  I like my ridgeback cur so I don't think it is too bad.
