Title: Good Bye Charlie Post by: hogaholicswife on June 28, 2012, 07:12:13 pm We had to make the heartbreaking decision to put Cash's daddy Charlie down this morning, my husband brought him to the house last night gasping and drooling. At first we thought he had ate a Bufo Frog (they are every where here) but after washing his mouth out and sitting with him for two hours there was not improvement so we took him to the vet.
The vet called this morning and said he was not doing any better, he asked whether I had given him any Ivomec recently, which I hadn't within the last week. Apparently he was having congestive heart failure and they diagnosed him as HW positive, he (as well as the other dogs) get their monthly dosage of Ivomec so I am just at a loss and keep reminding myself that even as a preventative it is not always 100% and all dogs react different. He never showed any signs of even having them so it was a complete blind side, he over came a lot as a young dog and was one heck of a dog that will sorely be missed. Title: Re: Good Bye Charlie Post by: justincorbell on June 29, 2012, 12:18:30 am I hate to hear it, i lost by far the best dog i've ever owned a cpl months back to the exact same thing.....1 day she was retrieving her dummy the next she was hackin up a lung with bubbles comin out of her nose. Brought her to the vet and 4 days later she was gone, first time i cried in years and i cried like a baby.......i still get up at night every once in a while to let her out.....it sucks
So sorry for your loss, sounds like he had a pretty good run. I hope what they say is true about all dogs goin to heaven.
