Title: Dog Lost Voice - need opinions Post by: jimco on July 08, 2012, 06:57:24 pm Took my female Catahoula to a friends place and dropped her off for a week to get her bred. Picked her up and brought her home and noticed she had lost her voice. She was amongst a lot of dogs and plenty of barking, so I guess she went to barking with them. I let her
rest for 2 weeks hoping her voice would come back strong. Today I let her come in the woods with me to go feed the hog in the pen. I let her bay a minute or so from outside the pen. Her voice started strong and immediately got weak and hoarse sounding. I called her off and we left. I think if I hadn't called her off when I did she would have lost her voice again. Do you think her voice just needs more rest or do you think it might be permanent damage or maybe some inflammation or what ? It sounds to me that if she hasn't had reason to bark in 2 weeks, then she should have made significant improvement. I might would talk to a vet.
