HELP..........Guys I need some help I guess, I put my dogs down on the ground and all they wanted to do was stay by my feet....note that they haven't been hunting in a month or so. What can I do to get them in the woods and start hunting.... My buddy that was with me put his dogs down and they took off my dogs just stayed there with me no mater what I did......Now when his dogs started baying my dogs took off to the bay...but when the hog broke they came back to me, this has never happen to me before they are some jam up dogs....one is 14months & 18months. Please help I don't know what is going on.

Easy here Grasshopper,.....could be that they just didn't have it in 'em that day. It's hot as the front door to hell here and a dog can't do much right now. Go easy on 'em and give them time to get back in the groove.....they're only barely grown, so don't be too tore up. Just my advise....good luck.

Sounds like they don't want to hunt. Could be new place or the other dogs. I would go drop them where you hunted before and if they do it again send them to pet homes and get new dogs.

I was thinking the same thing, it was to hot for them maybe...........or it was a new place......it couldn't be the other dogs because they hunt with them all the time, hell the other dogs or the ones that showed them the ropes.

I just can't believe that they would come back from a bay that they went to....

Just kind of got me, when I would put them on the ground man they would take off like fire running wide open then stop look at me and come running wide open back pass me the other way. Funny part is I NO I put them on fresh sign that was done not sec's before we got there and they wouldn't even put there nose down....what the Hell???

Don't be discouraged with them just yet.  Free casting a young dog is sometimes a situation they don't understand. My young dogs only get out on fresh sign for this reason. If I find fresh sign I will back off a couple hundred yards and walk them to it to take the track. Eventually you can tell who is going to hunt and who is not.

That's the thing they already HUNT.................been hunting for months but they would not hunt this time the first time ever. I have never had this ever happen to me.

you didnt mention how you were huntin so ill give you an example from my dogs.  Ive got one that I CANT walk hunt for nothin.  She wont take out.  If were ridin in the truck and i drop her and hang out to BS drink a beer etc.  she wont leave.  If i drop her and get in the truck she takes out.  Could just be the dogs thought yall were just goin for a walk  ;)  Id keep on them especially if you KNOW they hunt.

Sorry, I was hunting off a 4 wheeler with them in the basket on the back, Stop unhook them walk them to the sent and let them go.....don't know what was up with them. This is the first time they have ever done this, like I said I know they hunt and will find there own hog & and bay it till the AB gets there to catch it then they roll out again to find another hog unless I can stop them before they roll out.

I would not let them hang around my feet once a dog stars hunting and bays his on hog hanging around me aint no option. i would make them leave me i would tear that butt up till they left i know some will disagree but it worked for me. Again i would only do it because they know what they are suppose to do!!!
