About to buy a New hunting rig wanting some input and pics of setups on what to get

Utv= way more comfortable and can haul way more ppl/dogs/equipment

Atv=  better in thick woods lol thats about it.

I have 2 4wheelers and my next will deff be a side by side, most likely a ranger

Depends on the trails where you hunt. If your cruising the dirt roads go side X side. If your hunting in the bush and hitting mud holes (good mud holes not puddles) I'd go with an ATV.

Well I aint payin 10,000+ for something im gonna tear up in the woods!!! Id buy a jeep if I was gonna do that!!!! I can pick up a ranger for 5-6,000 at the auction down the road! Hell i may just buy a golfcart and a tow strap n get you to pull me around lacy man!!!'

 For those of you who think that a side by side isn't as good as a four wheeler in the thick woods and mud holes, yall need to come hunt with us.  ;D  Point it in the right direction and smash the gas peddle and make a new trail. So far the only thing that we found that the ranger isn't good at is crossing wet, disc'd fields that are mostly gumbo because it will ball up on the tires.  :(

At my place, its THHICK with narrow overgrown atv trails. Steep hils, so here, i use my lil 97 honda fourtrax 300, 2 wheel drive. Best money i've spent in a while. On some of the bigger places we hunt with nice trails and dirt roads, i got a diesel gator. If i had to do over, i probably would've went Ranger. Gator is LOUD, about like a tractor, and with the windshield and top, and the engine right behind you, all that noise gets trapped in the cab. No interior lights or lighted switches, gonna have to put one of thos slap lights on the roof so i can see the switches and gear shift at nite.  Runs good and pulls good in slop, I'm probably just nitpickin, and, i forgot, tokk the dealer over a month to get it in, then over another month to get all my accesories in. I was hoping for better service from John Deere.

Why do you think Im gonna buy a ranger Mrs. Dinah??! Ya'll made a believer outta me!

I've had and hunted out of both.  I had a 2002 Honda Rubicon and now I have a 2010 Ranger.  My Ranger goes everywhere I want it too.  I know where I can go and where I cant go.  I like my ranger becuase I can take more dogs and I can take other people.  I ride my ranger just about everynight with my two sons....my family has made some memories on that Ranger.  I would go with a UTV and I like the Ranger becuase it has the bench seat.  I've seen some Honda Big reds and they are way over prices and have low ground clearance.  By the way, they are way too much money.

Just remember when you get a bigger UTV, you need a bigger trailer.

I rode on a 250 2x4 last weekend because my arctic crap is once again out of commission. When it is fixed this time it is gone and I will get nothing but Honda and stay as small as I can. As for as a side by side, my buddy drives a mini truck and it will surprise you. 4x4 pulls hard, it is narrow, very quiet, and he hauls more dogs than most have at home. You can find them in great shape for 1/2 the price as a utv, and 1/4 of the noise. I will be going with a samurai soon, that will be my occasional side by side when needed.

I rode both....a lot! but I left out a very important issue for my reasoning. You need to think about self recovery. I've seen a 3500lb winch not even budge a Yamaha Rhino at Mud Creek (Jacksonville) when it got stuck in the sticky icky. It's all preference. I'm caught in the middle as well. I have a Honda Rubicon which I love but I'm getting a strong interest into the BadBoy Buggies now. Check em out, It would be a silent assassin.

x2...if it were for my wife I would get the utv...for me it is the atv 4x4...

Aren't they all electric or did they start making a gas model??? 2 of my buddies got stranded over 2 miles from camp on one of the electric models, i ain't to keen on unnecessary hikes lol.

Yeah they are. We creep around on a golf cart at the deer lease and it will last us all weekend but I bet those heavier BadBoy Buggies suck a little more juice.

I talked to a bad boy dealer at the cochon de lait festival in Mansura L.A last year. He said on a full charge you could ride 30 miles wide open on the road. I did a little research and found that in the woods you can cut that in half. Seeing them in a magazine is a lot different than in person. they are impressive. The drawback is the cost of batteries but, the savings on gas might balance it out.

and the 15-20 miles isnt factoring in two people and 200lbs of dogs  ;)

Once you start adding weight to the electric carts their range is SEVERELY shortened.  These things really aren't designed to handle a whole lot of weight.     

The silence of an electric buggy would be a great advantage but i honestly see it as the ONLY advantage. Don't get me wrong for a suped up overly expensive golf cart they are pretty cool but if im spendin that kinda money a ranger/mule/big red would be my only choices

We were out on a 12000 acre club and a fella with a Ranger was talkin about a Bad Boy salesman trying to pitch his wares. The guy told him if it would make it from one end of their property to the other he'sd buy one, didnt make it halfway,, had to tow it out, but it was quiet!

Bought ranger few months ago 1st true test was following a 800 ranger with mud tires. The stock 500 had no problems. I'll admit I still have reserve of beating it up the way I did my grizzly, but really enjoy the bench seat and load the back down with dogs to hunt the place just down the road from house.
