Title: Re: Buying Post by: charles on August 12, 2012, 02:30:46 pm getcha 4 5ft tall cattle/utility pannels, around 10 6.5ft t-posts and build you a circle trap. it hold a heck of a lot more than 1 hog at a time. if u want mobile traps. i took 3 goat pannels, 2 20ft sticks of 1" angle and built a 4x4x8 trap and welded 5/8" round stock for an axle and got some solid hand cart wheels and it made it very mobile and you can take the wheels off when u get in place.

Very good advice, just build a door and the rest can be temporary.Title: Re: Buying Post by: charles on August 12, 2012, 04:55:56 pm see t-bob, i aint just a contakerous ranting looney, "dont ask the wife if im looney though" i have a few crapy ideas that actually work.
the 4x4x8 trap is nothing but a wire laced rectangle with a inward swing gate. a guilatine gate woulda been a better choice though, but hind sight is 20/20. round pens are more permanent and labor intencing but will yield more pork in the long run, especialy if you take a couple hogs and throw in there after its built. oh and make sure you put it in a well shaded area and have a way to get water to it. you could even put up a feeder in the middle of it Title: Re: Buying Post by: T-Bob Parker on August 12, 2012, 07:43:03 pm see t-bob, i aint just a contakerous ranting looney, "dont ask the wife if im looney though" i have a few crapy ideas that actually work. the 4x4x8 trap is nothing but a wire laced rectangle with a inward swing gate. a guilatine gate woulda been a better choice though, but hind sight is 20/20. round pens are more permanent and labor intencing but will yield more pork in the long run, especialy if you take a couple hogs and throw in there after its built. oh and make sure you put it in a well shaded area and have a way to get water to it. you could even put up a feeder in the middle of it Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then! ;D Kidding, it is a good design and heck yeah, you stick a couple sows in it And you'll be in business!
