Are there lines of red cur dogs still out there? I'm not talking about a should have been yellow cur came out looking red. I mean a dog that's grandparents and great grandparents way down it's line were red curs?

I guess what I'm asking is do y'all think there's red curs and yellow curs or are they the same thing different color?

in my part of the country its not uncommon to get reds, yellows and ring necks in the same litter.  Whether the parents or yella, red ringneck or sometimes even black and tans.

Red Curs are much more prevalent in Common Curs. 

This is just the way I see it, but the best way I can explain it is like this.......Cur dogs are Cur dogs.  I see just as many differences within the different cur dog "breeds" as I do between them.  You've got your Yella BMC's and Catahoulas.  Then you also have what I call common Cur dogs.  Calling them that could be misleading because Common Cur dogs are really not all that common any more.  Much like common sense in that respect.  But for lack of a better term I call them Common Cur dogs.  Before there were BMCs and Catahoulas all people had were Common Cur dogs.  The Cur "breeds" did not come allong until later on.  But they all developed from the Common Cur .  The names came later on.  The Yellow Black Mouth Cur is nothing more than a physical description that later turned into a classification.  Catahoula is a region which a particular kind of Cur dog was common, and the region became the classification.  There are still common Curs around but very few.  They are the branch of the Cur family tree that never took on a unique classification.  Common Cur dogs can be many different colors.  Red, yellow, black, brindle, black and tan.  Red Cur dogs are out there but chances are they came from a line of common Cur dogs that also throws any of the other colors.

Just seen this Thread was bored at work and was reading old stuff we have a line of red cur dogs going my dad works cows everyday with them and I use mine for hog hunting and the litters we have had all the pups have been red

My Stud Dog Slick , Is a red cur , classified as a blackmouth but when bred to a red gyp all the pups are red , when bred to a yeloow you get all sorts of colors

Yes.  But some folks have concentrated breeding on their lines to magnify one specific color to be more dominant. 

Rodney and Justin are perfectly correct. Plenty of the old blood will throw paint and ringnecks.

Curdogs come in what ever color you make em ;) Fed quite a few red ones

The very first time I hunted hogs w/ dogs was on a paid guided hunt. 1996 I think. They had Catahoulas, and yellow brindle BMC's. Their lead in was a BIG Red Brindle BMC bout 80lbs. A GREAT looking dog.

Feller named Brad Hamilton from Angelina County on north end kept reds. Had plenty of folks give them the thumbs up on being solid dogs.

 rockin roo used to have big red curs, the howard carnathan line of curs are red too. i got a carnathan line bitch who is red/orange red. im sure if u do a search for rockin roo, u'll find a post with his red curs. i think the thread had to do with east tx cur lines or something like that, but i dont remember for certain the title of the thread.

I bought a red pup from Howard Carnathan about 12 years ago out of yellow BRUNO line parents. Turned out great till he was stolen from my yard.

Here's mine I don't know a whole lot about his lines he came from the smiths in kirbyville. I think there's some hound in him
