went out this morning this man claimed he had ONE hog and ONE hog only on a lease and he was a boar hog, said he weighed in around 500 pounds! i wanted to see proof of a true brute before i turned out, we pulled the trail cam and he had come in yesteday evening around 8:45 this wasnt the great hog he was saying he was but he wasnt too bad either 215-225 weight range. Now being that this wasnt the first hunt for the dogs we were expecting something out of em'. They bee-lined out of the box and bayed up at an ol saw brush pile 208 yards from the truck. The crew consisted of Dixie,Rudy,Missy,Red-dog,Lucy and corona the support guard! We showed treed for a good 10 minutes but they werent sitting still just yet, sent red dog in to sit em down and hold everything down while we got corona in there to em.... got her suited up,loaded, and at full attention when this ol wisetale hog breaks. He runs 800+ yards and is circling wide headed straight to the "swampy slew" as the ol boy called it. We wasted time and let the dogs hunt for augh another 2 hours or so and decided to relocate...We load the crew, grab the cooler, and were headed to a lease right off of HWY 59(kinda nervous at this point they would cross the road and be runover) They peeled out when they hit the bottom of a creek and i tell you this stuff was thicker than politicians in a whore house! They set this runner down in a palmetto thickett and hung with him for 2 hours, No rough dogs were on the ground at the time so we knew he would be right there for as long as them dogs wanted to hunt! After a while of listening to a voice you couldnt replace with a million dollars we sent the backup to em! Corona and another buddy of myns dog kaos had it out with this ol boar in a creek he was working over some dogs but babe when they caught it was on and it wasnt coming off!
we ended up drowning it out he was starting to pull back up stream with two bulldogs and of course them yella dogs hanging on where they could get on! got em pulled in and dogs pulled off so i decided to take the head to remember the best hunt out of these pups yet! not a bad start to our season but more than anything i love seeing pups figure it out!!! sorry no action pics this go around!
