Title: Re: double dew claws Post by: halfbreed on October 21, 2012, 12:57:23 pm no down fall they might hang on something now and again , just be sure and watch them and keep the nails trimmed so they don't curl around and grow back into the leg .

Title: Re: double dew claws Post by: shuttin em down on October 21, 2012, 06:33:49 pm My brother has the pup and hes new to the whole dog thing and the guy said the pup was a natural bobbed tail the pup has ¾ of a full size tail is that normal
Title: Re: double dew claws Post by: Reuben on October 21, 2012, 07:15:03 pm My brother has the pup and hes new to the whole dog thing and the guy said the pup was a natural bobbed tail the pup has ¾ of a full size tail is that normal lots of natural bob tails and single dew claws as well as double dew claws in the mt. cur breed...I don't care for dew claws but it is not a big issue. Natural bob tails are ok as long as the tails are not real short because it can become as problem...I prefer the pups to be born with a normal tail and the dock it as a little pup so that it will be about 5 inches when the pup is born... Title: Re: double dew claws Post by: Blue Duck on October 21, 2012, 09:28:50 pm I had a cat that had em, he would get em hung every once i awhile but didnt affect him much. Keep nails trimmed
Title: Re: double dew claws Post by: shuttin em down on October 21, 2012, 09:38:17 pm How often do I need to trim them
Title: Re: double dew claws Post by: Blue Duck on October 21, 2012, 09:42:45 pm I just trim em as needed, to where it is only a 1/4 length of a full nail, very seldom i have a problem, 1 out of 10 hunts will he limp any

Title: Re: double dew claws Post by: Lance on October 22, 2012, 02:22:07 pm I've got two young dogs with full size double dews on the back, Their about 10 months old now and I have just started hauling them. I keep them trimmed to about half their normal length and have'nt had any trouble. I've done the same thing with others that I have had in the past and only had one rip out a nail.
