Get a buddy to help hold her, or just take her to a vet if your real worried, staples sometimes work better....

Staples are a lot quicker and a lot less painful...

you can tie the dog by its collar against the chain link fence or hog panel and then loop a rope around her waste and tie her mid section tight against the fence and then you can stitch her up...I very seldom stitch any more just use cut heal 2 or 3 times a day...I just had a dog get hit by a train  ;) and it left a cut about 7 or more inches long and about 2 inches wide at its widest point and it was pretty bad...I was busy working a shut down so I thought the vet would stitch her up for 150 to 200 dollars but she wanted 5 hundred...I had my friend bring the dog back home and I have him on cut heal 2 times a day and the cut is now about 1/2 inch at the widest and about 2.5 inches long...healing up nicely...also gave him amoxillin  capsules twice a day for 2 weeks...this cut was what I consider pretty bad but not life threatening because it was all muscle and no tendons...

cut heal most of the time for me...capsules every once in a great while...

There is a spray called Derma Go 2 that works really good. That is what I use on all of my cuts. Heals them fast and sometimes you can't even see a scar.

Put her on an ironing board and strap her down with two or three belts. Make sure to leave the bottom of the cut open so it can drain but if she can reach it she will probably chew the stiches out when they start to itch.

if you know anybody in the medical field and can get you some 1% lidocaine, you can numb it with that. you try also try putting her to sleep with ether and sewing it all up.

Be careful numbing. They won't feel it when they bite it if it is completly numb. I like the oragel stuff. It takes the edge off but it is not completely numb. You can put a cone on the dog and a muzzle. I had a dog that the cone did not stop so I added the muzzle.

U hav to know how much lidocaine to give, dependin on how long the stitching goes. I think the cone n muzzle are good ideas too. I was at the last bayin at calloways n a dog took a poke in the neck and it took 3 to hold and 1 to stitch with several lights shining on the dog. Thank goodness somebody had a suture kit n sugar.
