Well I got four of the 9 she had. All of the 9 have made it so far so that's good. These little boogers have some energy let me tell you! Only three males were to be had though, so I got one male and three females.

and this little girl (on the far right in the other pics) doesn't miss a meal! Even if all of the other pups are playing or trying to climb on me she is in that food.

Thanks guys I appreciate it, and I'm sure Blake does as well! They actually all came out lookin' very similar. Three were brindle, but one was dark like Soka is. I took the pair that were the same color and one is a male (I've always been partial to that fawn brindle  ;D). Blake kept the male that looks like Fred's mom. The last male was a runt. I think there were 4 saddle backs. One was the male runt, and I have one of those females. So far I like em a lot... they stay pretty quiet unless they're hungry, and are full of energy. Probably going to start doing hotdog draggs soon just to see if I can tell any difference in the pups at a young age. I let them out of the kennel yesterday and put their food up wind and they were all using their noses trying to find it. Anyone have any other suggestions of things to do to keep em busy and test them?

How's the dogs bred as far as the parents go, looks like you've kept track of a lot of the family.

Fred is 1/2 Cat x 1/4 BMC x 1/8 plott x 1/8 greyhound from what I was told by the guy that bred him. Soka is full plott hound. I know she is part Pocahontas but for the breakdown Blake would probably have to break out the papers. At one point in time I could remember the breakdown of Fred's mama Jill, but Robert (mustangman) would have to help me out on that one too. If I can remember correctly Fred's dad was a Catahoula dog named Blue Duck out of Oklahoma somewhere. He said that the dog was a well known dog. Maybe they'll jump in and help me out... lol!  8) 

and am I the only one that can't see those pics anymore? Or is that for everyone?

And thanks! I had some help from Bryant trying to track down the guy who bred Fred. I like to know about the dogs I have and have had on my yard.

Thanks guys! and Matt, lol! No We are just starting something that we hope our children will keep going once we are too old and run down to do so...  ;D Figured that we have a few good dogs to start with, and we know where they came from and what they're out of so why not? I do have PJ though, and she is about as close to a dogo that I will probably ever get. I don't have that kind of money. LOL! If PJ stays on the same track she is on now then in about another year or two I will probably be lookin' for a male stud to breed her to. I'm hoping that Thomas and Krystal will breed Cotton to her to make a good cross.  ;D

Look good man.. Be glad you got gyps, you are liable to have some good ones. A really good gyp is priceless! once you get a good one, youll get rid of all your males from then on lol most everyone's got a good male dog, few have great gyps. Good luck with them bud, keep us updated

Ryan,let me rattle my brain a lil and shed some info on how Fred,Oscar,and Luna are bred. Jill's (their dam) daddy was a dog named Blue Duck that belonged to a guy by the name of Clay Hurst from Springer Ok. I dont know how he was bred but i was always told cat & something. I only got to hunt with Blue Duck a handful of times but he was just a great dog. The kind of dog that you only see every once in a while. Just a dog that everyone dreams of having one day. Jill's mom was a dog named Kate that belonged to Joe Day from Howe Tx. She was 1/2 Plott, 1/4 Cur, 1/4 Greyhound. I hunted with her for several years and she was also a pretty good dog. Now their daddy was a dog that i got from a dog trader from Paris Tx named Brother. I bought him for 500 dollars. He was a black & tan cat. First time we took him huntin we caught a pile of hogs. Well i thought that was a pretty good deal, hell he hunted good, bayed good, & caught when the bulldogs got there. The more i hunted him seemed like the worse he got. He started barking on track,trashing on deer & yotes. I couldnt break him so i quit huntin him. Had a friend just gettin started hog doggin & he took him and put him in the woods 4 to 5 times a week and made him a pretty decent dog. He got run over by a car in Oklahoma chasin a big boar hog across a hwy. Thats all i know about their pedigree. It was a accidental breeding between them and i gave Jimmy Creed 4 of those pups and kept 2. From what i was told by Jimmy that all 4 of his made good dogs and you got the only one left. I know Oscar and Luna are pretty good but not anywhere close to their momma & grandpa.Wish i would have kept the whole litter now. Them dogs are 5 years old now and Oscar gets better everytime we kick out. Hope this sheds a lil light on their pedigree.

Lol thanks a bunch Robert! It's written down now! Shows y'all how good my memory is when it comes to that stuff. I'm trying to learn though. Lol! At least ill be able to look back on this as record. ;D

But an update, all seem to be doing fairly well. These dogs are pretty salty. Plenty of grit, and lots of bottom. I love the female I kept named Lady. Bill and Blue are DavidTBH's dogs. Mustangman ended up getting Miller back from Lacyman and loves him. I sent a male and a female down south to Jasonmac that got taken out by a boar hog. The other two got taken out by parvo at 5 and 6 months. These dogs can put down some miles... we clocked Bill at 29 miles on a hunt before deer season. Lady averages about 15 miles a hunt, but has put down 20 before. We have a lot of runners so we like them to stick with em as much as possible.

Thats the same thing he told me... can't wait to hunt with that Miller dog again and see how far he's come. I'd have paid to hunt with Jill by the way he talks about her. I bet she was something else in her prime.

Ya Robert is a solid guy not many around like him. So fred is out of Jill and miller is out of fred what was the momma ? Just curious for my own nosey ness lol

Miller was pretty well started when I sent him to Robert glad to hear he's liking him a lot. I had miller broke and on a lot of hogs before he went back and really had to many damn dogs to keep him or I would have lol.

Well I officially will say I have he next generation of Fred pups down on the ground now... I crossed Fred to his daughter Lady (Fred x Soka), and she spit out these two. She had more, but for some reason couldn't handle this litter in the heat (105 that day) and started discarding them. Had to have a friend help me bottle feed them cause I work all day, and these are the two that made it. Super high hopes for these little chits.

Looks like the pups from Fred and Soka are 9/16ths Plott, 3/8ths Cat, 1/32 greyhound, and 1/32 Cur. Fred pups by his daughter will get complicated for percentages haha.

Lol thanks for the kind words guys, and yes sir they would... I was actually just looking at those numbers laughing. It's all fine and well to think we know what these dogs are made up of, but I'm sure a lot of us would be surprised if we did a DNA workup to see what's really in them. At this point it's a science experiment and a hobby. I enjoy breeding dogs now, raising them, and making my picks. Just going to keep moving forward with what works and hope for the best lol I enjoy homing a dog that I know will/should end up working for someone too. Makes good new relationships, especially if hey turn out being real go getters lol just doesn't happen as often as it used to.
