Title: Land sharks on the way Post by: chads7376 on December 22, 2012, 06:43:18 pm A little early but done deal now. My stag and one of my pit/dane's hooked it up once so I went ahead and kenneled them together. Stag is proven and been on loads of pigs. The pit/dane has only been on 12 pigs but she will go from 200 possibly more(never tried) and takes a break stick to get her off. I have never ran her on the ground but when her and her sister were ten months they were locating and catching drags from 150 to 250 yards.
Sire 31" around 80 pounds (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w144/chads7376/P4080114.jpg) Dame 75 pounds. Not sure on height but she is the tallest dog on the yard other than the Stag (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w144/chads7376/Dixie1.jpg) (http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w144/chads7376/Dixie.jpg) Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: SwampHunter on December 22, 2012, 07:21:08 pm sweet .... i got some greyXstag pups i have high hopes for

I have a pair of stag pups coming this way to the swampland from a fellow member on here. SUPER excited about workin' em! That should be a helluva cross there. :) Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: chads7376 on January 15, 2013, 08:47:06 am They are here. She had five females and one male. Two females were dead when I got home. Two are solid black with white on their chests. The other two are black with white on their legs and chest like the Stags white markings.
Paul or anybody experienced with hairy dogs, All of them look slick coated right now. Will that change or do they come out hairy if their going to be hairy? Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on January 15, 2013, 10:36:36 am The hair will come as they get older ;D
Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: chads7376 on January 15, 2013, 10:49:35 am Dang. Was hoping they would stay slick.. Oh well

Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: Reuben on January 15, 2013, 06:38:04 pm Chad...if they are real slick then they will probably be slick coated...but if the coat looks just a little furry that hair will grow some...
Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: levibarcus on January 15, 2013, 06:46:04 pm I just lost my pit/Dane a couple weeks ago. I really like that cross. She caught a lot of hogs for me and I sure wouldn't mind owning another one. I thought about the stag cross with mine but went with a good dogo instead. Those pups are 9 mo now.

Yeah I am really liking the pit/dane as well. I have a sister to this dog too. Both have been doing great. I wont have any to get rid of on this litter. I am keeping one and giving the other three to some of my hunting buddies but if this cross works out I will do it again Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: chads7376 on January 15, 2013, 07:08:13 pm Chad...if they are real slick then they will probably be slick coated...but if the coat looks just a little furry that hair will grow some... They look really slick and normal. Guess we will see. I will post some pics when I get a chance Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: levibarcus on January 15, 2013, 10:10:32 pm Chad, where did you get the pit/Dane? Is someone making this cross consistently and very often? The two I have had both came through several people before I got them so I don't know who bred them.
Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: chads7376 on January 16, 2013, 09:18:40 am It was a one time deal. I dont know anybody making this cross.

Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: chads7376 on September 17, 2013, 09:40:40 am Thanks, I put them on a couple pigs a while back and they bayed once I turned the pigs loose and let them run they caught em and stretched em out. Everything I read about stags says they are slow starters so I im hoping they get better.
Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: Jimt3 on September 17, 2013, 11:35:09 am How old are they now? I bet they're getting ready to turn it on!

Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: Amokabs on July 21, 2014, 09:02:00 pm What were the issues with the ones who didnt make the cut? Thats a fine looking dog, and his daddy sho nuff is!
Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: chads7376 on July 23, 2014, 09:56:40 am They weren't as "hard" as him if that makes sense... They would actually bay a pig sometimes, now they would catch and hold anything that was running but not run in to a bay and just straight catch every time. Seeing how I run loose dogs and send catch dogs from close range they just weren't what I wanted. They might have made someone a good set of RCD's...
Title: Re: Land sharks on the way Post by: chads7376 on July 23, 2014, 10:10:07 am I bred him to my Dogo/Pit a while back. She spit out 14 pups. 7 came out dead, 3 died in the first 12 hours and she squished one at about 2 weeks. Had 3 make it and gave one male to a good friend of mine and his bulldog killed it.
Here is the mom and the 2 pups. Male is the short hair one and the female is the somewhat hairy one.. Mom. Gotta excuse her excessive weight right now. She was on a self feeder throughout her pregnancy and took FULL advantage of it. The two I have left (male and female) are getting big at 7 months old. Let some of my yella pups bay a pig this weekend and let them watch for a bit. After they got good and wound up I sent them in and they both caught immediately.
