Ha ha... that's Boudreaux, my 14 month old Tweety/Obama clone. I like everything about him... except the catching part. He has all the hunt you could ask for in a pup... he's gonna have to learn the hard way to back up and bay.

Ben, I put him on a big boar a while back. That hog came to see him, had him on his back shaking like a baby... I thought this oughta fix him. ;D Put another dog in to get the hog's attention. He went to baying, Boudreaux got up, shook it off... and went straight in and caught. He always catches an ear, doesnt damage to hog at all.

T-Bob... he better figure it out quick, I don't think he'll make it a year or two at the rate he's going.

As well as he is bred Mike he will proably kill him self before he will accept he cannot catch a hog.

I hope not... his littermate brother was doing the same thing, he's baying now. I understand Tweety started out on the rough side also, but backed up around a year and a half old.

Catchy or not, those are some fine looking, well built dogs. I like how all of the pics I've seen of that family of dogs look like clones.

I hope he loosens up for you, I lost a good hard hunting young gyp a few weeks ago due to being just like what you described.

Crows, Reds, and Brindles is all a yard needs as far as hog dogs go  ;D

Thats when you know you got your breeding , line and your cross just right and your line is in the sweet spot not to much of this, not to much of that and noting from the outside !!!!!!!  I love to see lines that produce like that.  When you can tell were they come from soon as you see them .  When I was breeding Nigerino dogs my yard looked like clones and a Sea of Red with black masks. Only other color that came out every now and then was Black .  You got them in the Sweet Spot Mike keepem there.

there is some hidden pied in all good yellow dogs...  :) ;D that old behind the wood pile trick...  ???

That's old Ben... Tweety's last two litters threw some of them funny colored pups. Off of two completely unrelated sires.

I think it goes a little something like this "once you hunt yella, you'll be a hog catchin fella!" hahaha

Miller, this pup ain't leaving my yard... it was a joke.

I've given away several dogs over the years, some to friends in need and a bunch that didn't fit my style. They weren't culls... my culls don't leave either. ;)

 I feel your pain Mike. I got a young on just starting out that is putting teeth on the hog. I think he is going to be a nut dog. I wish they would all bay like our old Foot dog did.  :(

 Maybe with time and learning they will figure it out.

 LMAO!!! Yep that would be him. Thats one of my favorite stories about Foot. We had only had him about a month when that happend. He had never encountered water before.

The very next time we hunted Foot with CHance, the dogs crossed the Trinity river after a hog and Foot went with them. From that day forward, water didn't bother him.  ;D

But I will always love hearing CHance tell that story.  :D

Yup. Don't feel bad, I've got one who will cross snake and gator infested water while hells freezing over to get to hog, but once the hogs cuaght he don't wanna get his toes wet lol

I think you put him to the side and getz a few more likes him, then you can be like the professionals that knows you can onlys catches hogs withs rough dogs, you knows the ones that shutz ems downz and makes em squeal.

Chris, I don't think so? I started fooling with these dogs about 4 1/2 years back. All my old dogs that you knew are dead and gone... damn time flies. We'll catch up on the phone.
