I've read a couple articles but the details are pretty fuzzy still. To put it in simple terms, our taxes are going up one way or another.... Be ready.

The U.S. House of Representatives voted late on Tuesday in favor of a Senate "fiscal cliff" bill to avoid massive tax hikes and spending cuts.

the stock market liked the news and the futures are way up this morning...balancing the budget is important but it has to be well thought out and then small steps in the right direction makes sense to me...

The bill past at the last minute. The bill averted the largest tax increase in HISTORY but it hikes rates on income above $400,000. on
individuals and $450,000. on household income. The middle class will see an increase due to a social security tax cut that is due to expire.
Supposedly this is what we can expect.

How the tax increases will affect households at different income levels:

___

Annual income: $20,000 to $30,000

Average tax increase: $297

___

Annual income: $30,000 to $40,000

Average tax increase: $445

___

Annual income: $40,000 to $50,000

Average tax increase: $579

___

Annual income: $50,000 to $75,000

Average tax increase: $822

___

Annual income: $75,000 to $100,000

Average tax increase: $1,206

___

Annual income: $100,000 to $200,000

Average tax increase: $1,784

___

Annual income: $200,000 to $500,000

Average tax increase: $2,711

___

Annual income: $500,000 to $1 million

Average tax increase: $14,812

___

Annual income: More than $1 million

Average tax increase: $170,341

___

From Yahoo http://news.yahoo.com/winners-losers-fiscal-cliff-deal-231507391--politics.html
With the Bush tax cuts set to extend for individuals making less than $400,000, middle- and upper-middle class taxpayers can breathe a sigh of relief.

??? When your boss has to pay more in taxes... you are less likely to get a raise. When the company you buy products from pays more in taxes... those products become more expensive. WE ALL LOSE WHEN TAXES GO UP. >:( This is exactly how the media tries to spend this stuff. Those of you making over $400K a year... Im sorry the fed govt is punishing you.

They did nothing to slow down spending in any way.

Eric I like your comment.
Corporations don't pay taxes people do.
It seems hard work doesn't pay off today like it did for past generations.

If you are dependant on the government, you are middle class. If you work for a living you are upper class. If you are a democrat or republican politician you are low class. >:D

And yet where is the outrage about $67 billion of pork included in the legislation to avoid the fiscal cliff (a true misnomer) that was bought and paid for by lobbyist for NASCAR and asparagus growers, etc?
