I have been wondering the same thing since I saw that pic lol... chit... my horses can tell when the hot wire strand is off... they just stick their nose under it and go where they want haha! ... had ta be some sorta trick... that... or horses were just THAT much spookier in them days lol ;D Title: Re: Catching the horses, "old pic" Post by: Tusk Hog on January 02, 2013, 08:21:47 pm Believe the big difference was that horses back then were used and used every day. Talking to the old timers that went out with the wagons on the big ranches, they went through several horses a day. One good friend of mine that worked for the Wagner's told me he had 10 head in his string.

They had this rancher who bred some fine Quarter horses & he told this young kid who worked for him, that he would give him his pick of his 2 yr. olds. we'll, this kid was driving himself crazy trying to pick the best one of the bunch. finally, this old cowboy says, son, you want to know which one of them horses is the best one. the kid says, sure do Pops. The old cowboy looks at him & says, The one that is ridden the most. There is alot of truth in that. |
