Sure were a lot of bayed up hogs on that show....... I guess that it wasn't as easy as they expected to get video of live ones in the wild?

I'm watching it on DVR so its delayed..... Now they are talking about dog hunting and even highlighted a cut dog, AB it looked like.

Interesting, lots of blown out of proportion BS too though.

Abbeville is about 30 minutes south of me. There are alot of hogs there but you are right, the show producers exaggerated ALOT about pigs in general.

Okay, I have watched it all now........ Totally sensationalized.

I sure hope that they don't do that to our show.

They didn't miss the chance to say that hog hunters and trappers have cause the spread of the wild boars accross the US, by introducing them to new area for hunting purposes. I remember years ago (1980's) that they were releasing or breeding Russian boars at a hunting Plantation outside of Estill, South Carolina not far off the Savannah river. Can't remember the name of the place though.  Hunted in that area for several years. First time I ever saw a Russian boar  in the wild thought it was a  black bear for the first 10 minutes.  Finally came into a clearing and figured out what it was.  Puckered me up though, see this huge black thing thrashing in a thicket not far from my stand.

We had a federal game warden visit our camp this year in the national forest. Asked him why the hog dog season wasn't extended more than two months because of the growing hog population. He replied "We (hunters) are our own worst enemy".  :o

yeah , it was alot of bs along with it . the russians have been here since about 1900 when they got out of a preserve on the nc /tn line .

common sense would tell anybody that they have lived longer to do more breeding ,= yall know what,  but the way i saw it  it seemed to show dog hunting as a neccesary and effective method , and as we all know cut dogs and people are sometimes the price we pay to help our country  . (wink wink )

Bostick plantation is what they called the place . Like I said this was in the early eighties, there was not a  limit on deer or hogs per day.  Saw lots of big deer. Looked them up and on there Web site says; " Trophy Russian Black Boar".   Plus the show seemed like it was a big surprise that these exotic pigs were here in the US.  I guess pig hunters brought them home in there suit cases from Russia. Just  your everyday Bull  S__t.

I just didn't get some of it.
Like they sat there and said they needed to be killed out because they were
they were taking over and destroying stuff.
But they caught about 3 different pigs with dogs and all they did was take a
hair sample and let them go???
Somethings were a little over dramatic.
But it was alright.

I agree that is was made more for sensation than a documentary type of show. How many of you guys have ever had a "wild boar" break down your door and attack you while you sat on your couch in the living room eating munchies or drinking a brew??

But just think about the people that don't know any better, lived in big towns and maybe just moved out to the suburbs or something. They will want something done about these "vicious beasts" that attack people in their homes and yards, attack poor  dogs, etc and tear up their lawns.....

I think they did it just to add fuel to the fire to try and get hogs erradicated myself. Get all the city people on the bandwagon as they are the ones with the most money usually...

It was odd though that they turned the hogs loose after taking hair samples. The woods looked pretty open where they hunted, I wonder if that wasn't in a high fence place for the show??

Underdog that was a great clip there, showing our sport in a quite positive light.
Didn't need to show the cut dog, lord knows we've all seen it, but that is all I did not like about it. Thanks.

I am new to the whole hog dog hunting world. did alil gun hog hunting when i was younger back in east tx. my problem would be with this is why did they have to get some of the most no professional  looking or sounding guys in the world to represent the hog dog world to all of America. Can u imagine what them city folks think of those who  hunt as a whole now

Those hogs were caught in a pen. Those guys run a hog hunting service. They have a
"trophy pen" and farms they hunt.
