well...I was about to dump some money and take one dog to the vet and hope that the vet would sell me enough meds for the other 6 dogs...it probably would have cost me an arm and a leg...  >:( ;D

I tried some 1.87 zimecterin...rubbed in the ear and gave some orally for almost a week and a half (3 doses)...then I bought adams no mo ear mite medicine and it wasn't going to be enough not even with the 2 bottle of it...

then I tried a concoction of baby oil and permythrin 10, cutter yard gaurd, and tree and shrub...made it real strong and tree and shrub said that it would kill mites...I thought for sure this would work because the mixture was so concentrated...but it didn't...

Then I thought about asking on good ole ETHD and thanks to your replies I think I have it under control...

I remember way back I cured my dogs with ivomec 1.5 cc's per week for 3 weeks and rubbing some every other day in the ears...but I don't use ivomec any more and I needed a cure right away because one of the dogs was already bleeding quite a bit and the others weren't too far behind...

I also remember someone writing in the past posting that brake fluid worked...but only after the replies that I remembered...

long story short 1 had a new bottle of brake fluid in the garage and after the third treatment the dogs might be cured...probably for about 3 or 4 bucks worth...I could tell by the following day after the first application that it was working...

thanks again for you alls help...

How much brake fluid did you use,and how many days did it take to cure them?

I used enough to where I ould see it puddle up in the ear and then I massaged the ear...every other day 3 times so far and will do it again one more time just to be sure...I made sure the ear was totally covered with the fluid during the massage...

Get a bottle of frontline once a month you will be good

the brake fluid worked short term and probably would have worked if I would have stuck with it...but the earmites came back...and then I remembered about 25 years ago how I cured the earmite problem...I gave all my dogs 1.5 cc's of 1% ivomec under the skin per dog...all dogs weigh betwen 45-60 pounds...did this once a week for 3 weeks and the earmites just died off easy as 123...

the thing about earmites is that they might get killed off but some are crawling around in the dog houses etc. and they just keep re-infecting the dog...never ending cycle...but as the ivomec builds up in the dogs blood the earmites which feed on blood will die off and the new ones that get on the dogs will die off as well...just make sure the dogs don't have heart worms if you go this route...

Never heard injected a dog for mites. I have put ivermec in each ear three days in a row. Worked fine for me.

I always use the earmite medicine fot horses, dogs, and cats from the fed store. Put in their ears every few months whether they need it or not

I have been using this for over 30 years. Mix alcohol and white vinegar 50/50 and then put enough of the iodine you buy at the feed store (7%) in it until it looks like stout tea. I use a squirt bottle and just put it in each ear and rub it in.

I keep a bottle of this mix in my medicine cabinet out at the kennel. Anytime I see any dog looking like it might have a mite I just doctor all of them.
