I'm interested in makin a gsp/Dane or sim kind of bulldog cross for finder holders just wanting some outside opinions

Ive only seen 1 fullblooded gsp in the woods and travis "peachcreek" owns her, that little gyp stayed  busy when i hunted with her. Travis tell the man about your pointing hog dog lol.

I wouldn't use an American bulldog in the cross. My first choice would be a gamey pit, second would be the Dane. GSP crosses make better than average hog dogs.

@Buddylee yea I didn't have an American in mind at all I was actually leaning towards a Irish wolfhound if I could actually find one gamey n not a show dog I think they would make an insane cross super athletic high instinctual drive sight hunter plus a good nose idk what I have in mind what you think

I hunt a full blooded Gsp. I hunt him by himself and keep a bulldog with me. I have another one that will be started in feb. Mine is a very long range dog. Dead silent until bayed and catches on the other ear with the bulldog. Covers a ton of ground and has found me a ton of hogs.

Ol Leroy is believed to be half GSP half hound, if he had nuts I would have it made but he was fixxed when I got him !

Well I'm in bama so I'm probably a good way from you but we can come up with something. I'm going to breed him to one of my pits soon. Not sure when I'll breed him to a full Gsp one has to prove itself to me.

ill be looking for a full gsp.  got a litter of pit cross now have no doubt about.

Thanks guys all your input was greatly appreciated but I'm still stuck on wolfhound/gsp for my cross bc I want a rather large dog with great speed and endurance but a hot nose that could handle holding a hog alone or with one other dog

Anything crossed with a full blooded wolfhound will be very large...I'd go half pit half wolfhound then put that over a GSP. 

i got a birdbull and have hunted with a few, i really like them. he is a very busy dog and alot of nose and hunt. but he is all catch but all mine catch so its fine. GSPx a nice long legged pitt and you got some serious hair pullers. Some the bear hunters around here have crossed GSP with walkers and rave about them. Gonna cross my birdbull back over to a catahoula cur cross this summer if nothing happens to them. cant wait to get them pups going.

Yea your prolly right Aussie just what I want I plan on moving soon and the land changes n becomes flatter instead of thickets and brush like where I'm at now that's the reason I wana go with a wolfhound so they can cover ground fast pitbulls are athletic and great for catch dogs that's what I run now not knocking the breed at all but I've had em all my life n can't seem to recall very many that I could call smart I feel there to dependent on their owners I want a cross that's had dogs on Botha side that were bred to think independtly from there owners ya know what I mean?

if she has a good litter I'll sell few, but I live in the Carolinas so it would be a haul for yall. Sure would like to hunt in Texas one day tho lol.

i have a gsp female that i got when she was a little older dog and she started easy, she winds good and can smell a hog on the back of my truck from the day before but wont run any kind of track that old. she is pretty gritty but not stupid and she is the best handling dog i have ever owned but she just assume run a deer as a hog but i havent schocked her off of them. 

For the people that use game apbt's for these crosses, what line of apbt are y'all using for your crosses? just curious...

depends on what im wanting out of the cross..not all game dogs have the same traits.

I have a gyp that's heavy bred ch. gator who is a grandson of jeep. I also had a double bred son of ch. tuffy who was  a grandson of jeep too. I've gotten away from the jeep stuff now and trend towards the redboy/jocko stuff. I have 2 litters of game bred dogs on the ground right now and will prob sell a couple.
